Someone with a much higher basketball IQ than myself proposed this trade idea to me. What do you think? Bayless/Webster Rudy for Kevin Love Kevin Love gives us a very solid and young back up big man who can play down low and also pass and shoot. He can play both C and PF. He's a local guy from Lake Oswego. TWolves would love to have Rudy to help them get Rubio to commit. Would we have to toss in a draft pick? I dont think so. I like this idea. Rudy will probably bolt anyway for a starting gig and I dont think Webster or Bayless will amount to more than a role player. Bayless will never be a good PG IMO.
He is showing me a lot more than I thought he would. But Unless we are giving up on GO, I dont think there is much time for him here.
We cant assume we'll get Camby to resign and Pryz being ready/able to play. Love would get plenty of minutes backing up both GO and LA.
Of course you do that trade. Three relatively useless players for another team's best player. No brainer. No chance Minnesota does it. Maybe I'm talkin' crazy talk here. But I really think that if we offered them Greg Oden for Kevin Love they would say no. They love Kevin.
I don't see why Minnesota would really want Bayless or Webster, to be honest. I can see the interest in Rudy, but we'd need to figure out something else to add in to get Love from them. And I can't see how you even out a deal with them. They have a lot of cap space this summer, so no real bad contracts to get rid of. They have 2 PGs in Flynn and(eventually) Rubio. Brewer has looked pretty good for them at SF. Love and Jefferson at PF. Darko and no other real C. I would love to add Love as our 3rd big off the bench, behind Oden and Aldridge, but I can't see a package we'd put together that Minnesota would go for.
^^ Wasnt there rumors that they where shopping either Love or Jefferson at the deadline? I thought I read that they dont want to trade both, but wanted to deal one of them.
There was rumor they offered Jefferson for Granger. I haven't read rumors of them shopping Love. Other than the curiosity of whether they will since he has been coming in off the bench there. I would think Love would be the better fit in the triangle, and in my opinion is the better of the two, or at least, the one I would prefer to have. Maybe not necessarily better, just he could fit on a team easier.
New trade idea. How about Tom Penn's contract, the rights to Freeland (Maybe) and 5 basketballs for Kevin Love? I love this idea. Tom Penn doesn't even work for us anymore, Freeland may not even come to the States, and we can always just buy more basketballs! (Paul Allen is rich)
Same problem with the pg discussion in the other thread..... I don't think we have much to offer Minnesota without breaking up our core. If you want to offer Batum or Aldridge, I'm sure they'd consider it, but Bayless is probably worthless to them. Minny is one team that I'm sure would not be interested in Jerryd.
I'd consider offering up Aldridge. Love is a good midrange and even long range shooter, but I do worry about him defensively a little bit -- is an Oden-Love front-court quick enough to contend with the stretch 4s and athletic 5s in the league? Possibly, but I'm not 100% sold.
It's a tough call, but I'd rather stay with Aldridge (contracts not withstanding). Love's such a dominant rebounder, but if you're counting on an Oden-Love frontcourt, you probably don't need that. Kind of a moot point of course, as I don't think Minnesota would trade Love for LA -- suspect D but similar offensive output with superior rebounding on a much cheaper contract.
lol @ this trade offer. It's gonna take more than an underachieving SG &PG to get a double double machine like Love. This guy can out-rebound just about anyone.
I think you guys are selling short the fact that getting Rudy would be huge for the future of their struggling franchise. Rubio/Rudy would become the face of the Twolves. They'd sell more tickets, get more national/international exposure, and make more $$$ with that combo than with Love. I think Rudy, Webster, and a draft pick would get it done. They'll get a high draft pick in this summers draft, so toss in ours and they are sitting pretty for this years draft.
agreed. The Wolves would demand AT LEAST Lamarcus Aldridge ... which seems about fair to me, except that LMA is going to be very difficult to move as a BYC player.
That might have been true last summer, but I would guess that Rudy's stock has dropped a bit this season. The NBA is fickle. They don't remember so much what you did last year, and more so what you are currently doing.
It's more about the fact that if they had Rudy then more than likely his buddy Rubio would finally agree to come play for the Twovles.
