It was basically the opposite of what I posted. I'll have to remember not to use nuance on this board. I guess I need to be more blunt.

Yes finishing 4th or 5th is not debatable. You finish 4th or 5th or not.

Using a formula that doesn't account for defense, leadership etc is flawed from top to bottom.

the 15th best player in the NBA is debatable. Who finishes 9th is not.

    Are you getting it yet?

    Are you?

    Are you?

    Are you?

I got you a long time ago.

    Since we're throwing out facts:

Portland tied for the 5th best record in the league last year, with one of the youngest teams in the history of league, under coach McMillan.

Longer than most posters in this forum have been alive.

Look, if you don't think part of the coaches' job involves discipline, so be it. If you think Roy is "entitled" to pout over Miller, or Oden playing a bigger role on the team, nothing I can say will change your mind.

I never posted that. I did post that the "firm-handed Daddy" approach seems foolish when dealing with adult millionaires.

Again, I never posted that Roy is "entitled" to pout. Did he pout? Yes. Did it impact the team? I don't know. Did he get over it without by being a professional, instead of being a child spanked by Daddy Nate? Yes.

Just because I think your analogy is ridiculous doesn't mean I advocate a laissez-faire approach to coaching, or even players whining about their roles.

Having a little trouble with reading comprehension? HE was the one who painted a picture of Roy telling his coach to fuck off. I was responding to HIS scenario.

So, we agree that Roy was behaving in an unprofessional manner to start the season. So what exactly is the disagreement - whether the coaching staff has any responsibility for that?

I never said that. How do you define "unprofessional manner"? Perhaps he should have just not talked to the media about how hard he was finding it to adjust his game?

Your "unprofessional" comment tells me all I need to know about why you posted what you posted. Good day, sir.

You don't actually ever have any opinions of your own do you? you just argue over semantics and who said what.

You never actually say anything do you David?

Once you respond to me you will hit the 20 post mark in this thread. I find that "hilarious" don't you?

But then, through the magic of good coaching...

In conclusion, we need to hire Baron Von Joy to be our next head coach.

You yourself described Roy as "pouting"....but you are offended that I term pouting unprofessional.

    What the hell????

The subject is Nate being a good coach, not a coach who can lead one of the youngest teams in the league to the 2nd round. To answer your question, Nate did ok last year in the playoffs; a lot better than some of the players.

Since you have moving criteria on what a good coach entails, I probably shouldn't ask for the criteria you use. I know that really puts you on the spot though, and that is against the rules when we have a discussion.

You are so full of shit I can smell you through my keyboard. What moving criteria? What rules?

The guy has never done anything in 11 years of coaching in the NBA, but I'm supposed to believe that someday he's going to win Portland a championship?

Why? Because he's an assistant for the US?... Because he might finish 3rd in COTY?... Because some column writer in the Sacramento Bee thinks he's a great "young*" coach?

*11 years is young you know. Hasn't had a chance yet has he?

Awaiting your typical list of excuses. Injuries, he's never had a good team, new players, trades etc, etc, etc.

Either you do or you don't. At this point at the very best, he's a maybe.

    That's all he is...

    He's just a maybe.

Lenny Wilkins won 47,000 regular season games. Who gives a fuck?
