Ur thoughts on it. More specifically on the possibility of martial law/extermination of people etc because of the collapse of the economy.... or other catastrophic events....

Im not a consiparacy theorist, just wanted to see what the general thoughts are...

Like in every zombie movie, once the plague begins, everyone will act as if there never was a zombie mythos in our culture.

Lincoln was a Republican, dear sir. The KKK and the pro-slavery people were Democrats. Kthxbai

You're right, the people from the Northeast, knew better than the people from the south. By the way, what are the majority parties there now?

Bush/Cheney have laid the groundwork for it fairly thoroughly by creating the Homeland Security Force, clamping down on Freedom of mobility, and monitoring your personal computer keystrokes through Weatherbug.

If you're under the naive delusion that it had anything to do with protecting us from terrorists or evil foreigners, well, you're naive and delusional. HS was created solely and specifically to oversee and implement martial law whenever the government deems it "necessary".

That pesky 2nd Amendment is the only obstacle left.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Time for another edition of Fun Tricks With Party Names!

Let's put it this way: the last time social conservatives tried to start a war with social progressives, the conservatives got their asses whooped.

Many years later, the social conservatives and social progressives changed party names.

The end. Or is it...? :devilwink:

Eh.... I don't know about that. I mean, I understand what you're saying, but the Democratic Party originated as the Democratic Republicans. It was my understanding that the Republican party was formed because they felt that the Democrats had become too Federalist. Lincoln was a Republican, was he not?

These days I could hardly call either party socially conservative. :dunno:

He was, but I don't see the relevance. What "Republican" and "Democrat" and "Democratic Republicans" and all meant back then has virtually no bearing on what "Republican" and "Democrat" means today. Party philosophies have shifted, who was part of which party has shifted, even which parties were in existence have changed (no Federalists or Whigs anymore).

Jefferson was a Democratic Republican, he founded the party. Does that mean the current Democrats are the Jeffersonian ideal? Do you think many conservatives would agree with that? ;) I find that factoid to be as relevant as the factoid that Lincoln was a Republican. It just happens to be the same party name...he wasn't a member of the current incarnation of the Republican party.

Really? Are you sure you don't mean that you wouldn't call either party fiscally conservative? Because that I would definitely agree with. I think the Republicans are much more socially conservative, in that they preach a return to (or defense of) "traditional values" when it comes to what is socially permissible.

The government just traces their addresses from their message board posts and puts them on the health care early death list. Next time they go in for a checkup, the government pays for the B-list doctors and the bad medicine imported from Honduras.

It's more complicated than how Hitler did it, but this way the conservatives can't prove anything. An Obama think tank expert leaked it to a left-wing blog where I read it.

Well, mostly my original comment was just me being a smartass. No real depth to the point, just that Lincoln was a Republican and the North won the war. Not intended to be some thought-provoking statement.

You're right though, I was thinking fiscally conservative...
