Well, my iPod just became insufferable. The audio jack is fucked. This is the second iPod in a row I've owned whose audio jack has fucked up in less than a year. So I'm done with Apple.

I want an MP3 player that won't die in a year.

Preferably, I would love to have an iPod touch... that's not an iPod. Wi-fi and touchscreen. I don't need many gigs, 12 at the most will do it.

Under 200 would be great. I doubt what I want exists.

I have a Creative Zen. Although it only has 4 gigs, it takes cards up to 16 gigs and has excellent screen clarity. I keep those cards in a small pouch and I can, essentially, have unlimited music.

Don't take iPods to the beach... Sand is a bitch, gets errvywhur.

    Zune HD 16 GB -- $199.99

Great MP3 player. Software kicks ass (> iTunes).

I have a Sansa Clip as well. Like it much more than my wife's Nano. Thing is small enough to take running, biking or anything - but has some kind of a screen so you know what is happening - which is not the case with an iPod Shuffle.

IPODS have a one year warranty. Go to the Apple store and they will fix it or give you a new one. They are really great about servicing their product. Its worth a trip....even if your warranty is expired they will sometimes give you a new or refurbished product.

I've got a couple of these Sansa Clips. Absolutely love them. Nice sound quality, tiny, and that little clip on the back makes it so easy to put it anywhere. Really good battery life too. Survived a wash in the laundry without a problem. Woot.com had a special on an 8 gig one for around $20. Wish I'd bought several of them.

My wife swears by her ipod, but I just don't get it. The point of an MP3 player is to easily access a ton of music with high quality audio in as small a unit as possible without sacrificing interface. That's what the Clip does beautifully. So why pay four times as much for an iPod?

My only advice is to go with a red or other color. I own a black one and I'm forever misplacing the little sucker.

Can't speak from personal experience as I have an Ipod and love it (despite hating Apple) but all I read/hear is that Zunes are the shit if you're moving away from Apple. Check them out. Used to hear more about Creative's Zen line of mp3 players but not as much in recent years.

I have the Clip as well. Picked up an 8 gig version for $24.99 on Woot a couple months back. Love the small size and easy use. Don't have to worry about a pocket, or armband or anything. Just clip it to my shirt and I'm good.

    Gramps...

I have Ipod nano & shuffle... I use Zune HD though. I like the radio. The zune pass is pretty cool too... $15 for unlimitted music of which you get to keep 10 songs per month permantly... that is basically $5 a month for listening to all the music you want.

Yes it does. Have shot hoops listening to blazer game at the gym. HD radio sounds a bit better than normal FM... not earthshattering but it is noticeably better.
