This can't be true because I read on here that he's an all-star talent being held back. Surely other GM's would put out a solid offer to steal such a talent before another team gets him.
I wasn't focusing on James Johnson as much as the first round draft pick (unprotected ) and the hope that there is a feeling of a Rudy sweepstakes out there among teams. I would like to see jsut how high the bidding gets. I should note that what I really wish is that Rudy would just accept his role here and try to develop into that assassin off the bench . . . but I don't think Rudy is happy in Ptd.
I'd look strictly at a PG prospect for Rudy. Jeff Teague Jrue Holiday <--this kid is going to be good down the road etc.
Nate's system totally killed his game. I really want to see Rudy in a system that fits him and starting. He's a ruined talent in our system.
I agree ... his numbers in the last half of the season seem to suggest that "down the road" might be more like "up the street" That kid is going to be one helluva defender
Yes I would like to see him start as well. With any of our main competitors. I am sure Roy would like to see that too. But I am also sure he can excell with team like Golden State. Lottery teams that will not "ruin his talent".
this is what it boils down to. I think he wants to have different weather/culture. The problem with the guys who only stay in oregon during the NBA season is that they never get a chance to see the summer here. He probably wants to live the fast-pace Pau Gasol life.
Whatever. Rudy is ours for two more years. To me, that means Nate has that much time to get solid minutes for him. I can envision him playing about 14 mpg at SG and another 16 at PG as a back-up. If he can average 30 mpg, I think he'll be happy enough with a winning team. If that either doesn't work out or if it's too much of a stretch with him being a back-up PG, then one way or another he's gone.
In theory that's correct ... in practice, if things don't change considerably in his role or the team's style (ie. Nate being here or not) then there's no way he'll be content to let it ride for that long. My money is on him bolting this summer in some kind of trade that he forces.
Just like he killed Sergio's game. I remember the posts about if only Sergio played in D'Antoni's he would thrive, but Nate was holding him back. Under Nate, Rudy set the all-time rookie record for three in a season, so he obviously hasn't been totally miss used. Unless, people think Rudy is an unbelievable shooter who can run a team and defend night in and night out in the NBA over an 82 game schedule.
Rudy is only a starter on a team like the Warriors/Kings/Wizards/Wolves/etc. Teams that suck basically. On teams contending his best role is easily coming off the bench, and even then he's just a player with limited abilities. He's not fast/quick, not strong, not great at handling the ball, has shown no ability to put the ball on the floor and create plays consistently/finish at the rim, it goes on. And yeah, he's almost a 0 on defense. In his time here he's really never shown he's worth more playing time, especially this year. He's certainly better than he's playing this year, but overall his ceiling seems to lean toward being just a nice role player off the bench. If he wants to be more, he needs to start showing improvement.
