On ESPN. ABC's Sunday showcase always involves some combo of Cavs/Lakers/Spurs/Celtics/Magic/Mavs with the occasional Team Tattoo dose.
I could almost swear we had a Sunday game on ABC last season. Maybe not, though. Either way, what a drought!
Using Google and looking at past schedules, we havent been on ABC since at least before the 2006-07 season. That's as far as I got.
What a dissappointment the ABC/ESPN era of NBA basketball has been. Games on NBC (and CBS before it) were special. They were events, not just games. And while there are far fewer ABC games then there were games on NBC over the course of the season, it just seems like another ESPN broadcast, which happens 3 times a week. I have no idea why the ESPN/Disney suits seem to think that ABC deserves so little coverage. Yes, broadcast network TV isn't what it used to be as far as draw, but it still does mean something. It means "big time" in the eyes of many viewers. What I wouldn't give for the Bob Costas/Marv Albert/Mike Fratello/Ahmad Rashad team to get back to doing what they did best: making "big" NBA games must-see TV.
I'm pumped! I get to sit on my couch and watch it bitches! And in my opinion, TNT's coverage is amazing!
TNT's coverage *IS* amazing, and that's what makes ABC/ESPN's boring, cookie-cutter coverage so goddamn frustrating. Imagine if TNT took over ABC's broadcast instead of ESPN? EJ, Chuck, and Kenny on Sunday morning hyping up the day's doubleheader, and then the old-school A/B announcing teams of Marv Albert/Mike Fratello and Dick Stockton/Hubie Brown calling. The thought of that almost brings a tear to my eye.
ABC sucks balls. Good news is Michelle Tafoya is gone but they replaced her with Mike Tritico sucks and so does their production.

I agree. They do a great broadcast from top to bottom. But it's not "special" like the old NBC games to be on TNT.
The whole ESPN on ABC thing is stupid. It feels like ABC doesn't have the aptitude to deliver a broadcast on their own so they have to get random help from some other network. The NBA on NBC theme music was great. ABC broadcasts just aren't the same.
