I understand you now, but I still stick to my argument that LeBron is the best all around player. I guess he doesn't paly defense, but no one else ont hat list has LeBron's rebounding, scoring, and passing. If LeBron is ahead of everyone in 3 out of 4 categories, he's gotta get some sort of edge
Kevin Garnett isn't far off, he's a better rebounder, great passer and very versatile scorer. He's also a top 5 defender.
The way I see it:Scoring: LeBron by alotRebounding: Garnett by alotPassing: LeBronDefense: GarnettSo it's real close. However LeBron this year did average what, 3 APG more? That's quite a hefty bit.
He's a guard, KG is a power forward. When you take into account Garnett's defense then it's a completely different story.

It goes both ways.</div>Well if you include the assists, rebounds and scoring, then it looks like this:Scoring: Lebron by a significant marginRebounding: Kevin by a significant marginAssists: LeBron If you just take those categories into account then LeBron is the winner, but Kevin is clearly the far superior defender, which I think makes up for his minor disadvantage in the assists column. (Basing that on the fact that rebounds and assists cancel each other out.)KG is always head of LeBron in the points +/- stat, which to me makes him the best player in the NBA. No one means more to their team then Garnett does to the Timberwolves.(Actually I just checked and this year neither Kevin nor LeBron cracked the top 10, but in the previous two seasons KG led the league by a very large margin.)EDIT: Correction, they don't have this year's stats yet, but in 04-05 neither James nor Garnett made it, and in the previous two seasons KG was the league leader by an amazing 4 points.

Lebron doesn't play defense, therefore he cannot be number 1. He is most all around offensive player in the league though.

What's the consensus?</div>Well the fact that you are plainly basing it on statistcal totals doesn't exactly tickle me timber (LMAO). But KG, for a 7 footer (or 6'11'', whatever) should not be doing what he does. His all around game is unbelievable. That's why he's my favorite PF in the game. He can play all 5 positions, good defender, excellent passer/ballhandler for a big, runs hard, leader, can score from anywhere really (can even hit a couple 3's), NBA's best rebounder, long, etc. He's the complete packag (and so is LeBron). But comparing a wing to a big man is tough.
I'm basing it on stats which reflect how well a player affects a game overall, so they're very accurate.
I'm just laughing because you added Boris Diaw to that list. Lets not get carried away with that dude guys.
