It doesn't really matter as European clubs and the NBA honor the validity of each others contracts. Portland has a team option following this season at 1.2M which would put them on the hook for the following year at 2.2M. With his upside at this cheap rate why would/should they let him walk?

Various media reports leave this out of their reports as they want to stir up fan interest and sell papers. I don't blame them as it's just business but that shouldn't prevent fans from understanding whats truly what... Rudy isn't going anywhere

History only lasts for a week on this board. Anything farther back is the long forgotten past.

Which begs the question as to *why* this has happened. Is the team concealing the fact that his back is in really bad shape?

Then again, Eggers could also be right.....

Or, Rudy is just playing like shit right now, which seems the most likely answer.

I've often wondered this myself. Anyone who has had a bad back injury (myself included) will tell you it can be completely debilitating. I got into a pretty bad car accident and it took me over a year before I was back to normal, and I still occasionally have soreness over five years later.

I'm not saying that's what is happening, mainly saying it COULD be. I tend to lean toward the "he is frustrated with his role" camp, though. Not that he necessarily deserves a larger role given his play.

I agree with Mixum. We've lost our depth. The way Bayless has played recently explains why he was on the bench behind Blake. Rudy has been mostly horrible this season. Webster is bad off the bench. Frye is gone. Outlaw is gone. Sergio is gone. We used to be this young team with so much potential, but most of that potential hasn't come through. There's no guarantee that Oden will ever be a consistent player for us. We've added good veteran players in Howard, Miller, and Camby and such additions are good if you're planning on winning the title immediately but if our window isn't open right now, we're stuck with three players who will be gone in a couple years and suddenly, our team will be very weak. We should really make a push to win the title this year, which means 40+ minutes out starters. I truly believe we can get out of the West, but I'm not sure I believe we can beat Cleveland. Sad. The Oden injury killed this team.

So several of you guys really think Rudy is playing badly on purpose. Maybe I'm not sharp enough to see it. I mean, I see he's not as good as last year, but I don't see the evidence that he's doing it on purpose. What clues are you seeing that I'm not? Convince me he's playing this way on purpose.

I had been thinking he was going downhill the way Sergio did, as he interiorized inhibitions learned from the coaching staff and lost his Conquistadore spirit.

I don't think Rudy is playing poorly on purpose. I just think he's playing poorly, and like the prima donna he is, he's assigning blame to anybody but himself for his poor play.

Entirely possible....and if he is in pain from his back, that could be adding to his lack of focus. The thing is, these theories are not mutually exclusive - there could be multiple things at work here.

Fucking spot on! He's a prima donna. That's how they act. Granted, it's partly our (the fans) fault that he is this way. Meetin him at the airport like he was Jesus or some shit. If he can make more money in Euroland, and he's more of a star in Euroland...by all means...get the fuck out Rodolpho! (no offense to any posters who may have a similar name) The next Ginobili? Ooops! Nice try KP

I agree that Rudy has been affected mentally with his back issue this season. Hes not at full strength and he must decide at the end of this season if hes comfortable with the Nate system or he wishes to be traded. Its too bad that he has been playing poor compared to last year but I think a lot has to do with his mental attitude on what role he truly wants to express.

Rudy just seems very slow nowadays. Kerry Eggars quit on the Blazers about a decade ago.

    Great post!

The best thing to do when one of our players is struggling is to turn on him and tell him to fuck off, call him names, and be derogatory towards his place of birth.

Hopefully the fans will do the right thing tonight and boo the fuck out of his American hating euro nazi ass.
