This is basically the book on how to beat the blazers. Make miller shoot jumpers, get tough with roy, and live with LAs total. How else is gonna beat you? Thats likely the message in the other teams locker room. I mean how many times can I repeat this? WE NEED ANOTHER SCORER! As bad as the bench is, we just dont score easily enough. The defense and pace is great but you cant win if you cant score. So many fucking times this year Ive watched this team have HUGE HUGE chances to pull away when the other team has a drought but we start shooting jumpers that never fall. I keep reading excuses today about refs and just off night garbage. No... the blazes showed why they wont advance. They cant score easy buckets and if their jumper isnt falling... THEY ARE DEAD.

So whats gonna change in the playoffs lol? Batum will start scoring or look more confused then he did Friday? Miller will start hitting threes? LA will get a post game? Ridiculous. Another first round exit that you will all call "a learning experience."

And in closing I dont care what anyone says.... Roy has taken a step back this year. Maybe hes still hurt but thats not the same Roy from previous seasons. Not sure what has happened to him but his shot is off and he never has those pretty drives anymore. Just a scream when he misses a shot hoping to get to the line. The refs are not that dumb.

    I disagree.

Oh sure, every team could use more scorers, but to me that's a short sighted answer. I mean, ok, let's trade Bayless for D-Wade and Pendegraph for LaBron- see how easy it was to solve the problem!

And while I'm not saying we shouldn't see if a scorer is available, it's easy to simply say "let's go get a bunch of scorers" (like every team is wanting to do), and another thing to get it done. You're offering the easy to say pipe dream solution. The one that when it obviously won't pan out makes yet another butt boring thread about how our GM sucks..... [yawn], it sure gets old, Mixum.

Let me suggest a different point of view.

First, if we took advantage of our running opportunities more, we would score more easy baskets. But we don't. We could do so easily with our personnel, considering how many rebounds we get, but Nate still cannot get Roy on board with running much. Bayless is a dynamic open court player driving to the basket. So there's something we can work on.

Second, Webster is in a funk that I think he will come out of and Rudy has been injured (back surgery, remember). A second unit of Bayless, Rudy, Webster, Cunningham and take your pick for the 5th player has outside shooters, mid range shooters, good open court players, good drivers... and depending upon injuries, could be molded into a fairly good unit. We can also make a change or two (Mills for Bayless...) and maybe even get better.

Third, other teams have been able to penetrate a zone and score inside so we can too. That's a coaching issue and I an confident we can get that done if the coaches can get the players on board.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that for the most part we have the players to beat a zone and get the job done. It takes better play and better coaching to accomplish it.

And you expect the Blazers to do what about that right now since it's after the deadline and the playoff rosters are set? But keep saying it though. I doubt anybody else but you has figured out that the Blazers are streaky shooters.

Never mind that the stats say otherwise. Roy struggles to score when his teammates aren't hitting open jumpers and the opposing team can get away with doubling him all night.

They didn't do much to prove that last night.

I started to reply, but lost my fire. I'm afraid the thrill is gone, MIXUM. Maybe you can find some new way to spice things up?

I can tell that you're not trying, and I think that's what's wrong with this relationship.

I do agree with you on Roy. He is not the same player this year. And as a fan of a team who has put their resources in LA and him to be their franchise, I'm very concerned.

He has taken a step or two back this year. He looks slower. Nothing is easy for him. It almost looks like it takes everything he has to make something happen. You watch the greats like Wade, Lebron and Kobe and you don't see them labor and work for something as hard as this kat does. He was fine last year and the year before. But this year there is something different about him.

Roy is going to have to work to keep his game up. He took an off season off last year. It really showed. He is not as blessed and some of these other players. If he wants to be great, he is going to have to work just as hard and probably even harder to reach and maintain the elite top 5 to ten player in the league status.
