The entire broadcast was a commercial for the Lakers' huge market and the fact that the league has so much invested in their success. It was sickening. The halftime fluff piece about how the Lakers have had to deal with "a plague of injuries" was sadisticly hilarious, what a joke. I felt like vomiting with every sperm swallow the ABC announcers laid out on the Lakers' dicks.
Of course ABC is gonna jump on the Lakers bandwagon. One of their announcers is Van Gundy the biggest laker supporter around. You will NEVER see him talk bad about the lakers and every disputed call he will give to the lakers, he wants to coach them when phil leaves. As for all the commercial stuff about the lakers that I didn't mind at all, their the biggest franchise in basketball and ABC was courting to the Lakers viewers which probably dwarfed the portland viewers by a ton.
And all told, I was pretty satisfied with most of what I heard the announcers say about our team. They gave Batum serious props, and spent quite a bit of screen time between one of the quarters on our injury woes this season. There will ALWAYS be a big city bias in the national media -- part of being a small town sports fan is accepting this and moving on.
Considering it, due to the economic climate here, and my wife's office is based in Pasadena. Shoot me now.
If these two meet in the playoffs I'd suggest you turn off the sound. In the meantime you could sooth your jangled nerves by checking out the latest chatter on a Laker forum STOMP
