And that's why I want the Lakers in the first round.

We play with so much confidence against them. Of the 5 teams we could face, I honestly believe the Lakers are the team that we have the best chance of beating. Is there a Western team that is playing worse than the Lakers now? Unfortunately, because of today's win, our chances of playing the Lakers in the first round have greatly decreased.

Dammit, I want revenge for 2000-02 and I truly believe the team we have now can get it done. It looks like we'll have to get to the WCF to make it happen though.

I just don't see the NBA allowing Portland to beat LA in the first round. With Roy a question mark, add infinity.

If Portland could beat LA in the first round, then logic would dictate that if we didn't play them in the first round, there's no way we'd see them in the WCF. If we got that far.

You messed up a portion of you post, but I do disagree with what I do believe to be your premise. If LA loses in the WCF to Portland, then at least there are 2+ rounds of ratings. If LA loses to Portland in the first round of the playoffs. Hello Denver vs. Utah/Dallas. Not. Gonna. Happen.

Did you not see the NBA and it's refs do everything they could to fuck Portland? That is the reason I do not want to see the L*kers in the first round.

If you truly believe the NBA controls who wins playoff rounds, then why do you watch at all? And if you don't believe that, then why can't you believe in our team which won the season series 2-1?

I'll admit I'm torn here. I do think there is a bias, and like Miller said, I can't picture the Lakers losing in the 1st round. I disagree with your take on Miller's comments, KingSpeed, but that's irrelevant here.

I DO agree that I'd rather play the Lakers in round 1 than Utah/Denver, as I do think we play with a lot of confidence against them and it's harder for them to win in Portland than Den/Utah. Thanks to our home crowd. But just for kicks, our records against other West playoff teams:

    LAL: 2-1
    DAL: 3-1
    PHX: 2-1
OKC: 2-1 (not gonna jinx anything)
    SAS: 3-0

    UTA: 0-4
    DEN: 1-3

Exactly. I want Game 1 and the worst places to get game 1 are in Utah and Denver. Those are tough home courts. L.A., on the other hand, has a weak crowd that shows up late and assumes the team will reach the Finals. We can steal a game 1 from a slumping Lakers team. Utah and Denver scare me. I wanted L.A. last year too. Houston was the WORST team for us to play. We finished the season red hot with our two losses in that streak being against Houston. It was the wrong matchup. I fear it will happen again. But what can we do? I certainly don't suggest we throw these next two games.

Totally agree about last year. I remember watching the HOU/DAL game, last one of the regular season. If Houston won, we played the Spurs. If Dallas won, we played the Rockets.

Even though the Spurs woulda had home court, I was rootin hard for the Rockets, because the only team I DIDN'T wanna play was them. Houston was up 15 or something in the 3rd, and I was stoked. Next thing I know, Dallas rallies and ends up winning the game. I was still stoked to be back in the playoffs and to have home court, but I absolutely HATED the matchup. We all know what happened.

Blame last year on one mutherfucker! James Posey! He missed 2 freethrows that would have sealed the win at San Antonio and he fucking choked! We would have played the Spurs!

call me crazy, but I prefer to play teams that swept us. I am a law and average type of guy. Besides that last one we were up 25 and lost will get us fired up. Utah will have a rookie on Brandon. And boozer still can't play D.

Put Batum on DWILL and we will be find.
