He didn't say anything about moping, you added that adjective. He didn't think he was going in and was on the bench. When I seen your post I thought Joe was trying to paint some picture like the Oregonian has done in the past, but I was surprise because usually he doesn't and he didn't you did.

Great game by Martell. Like the bit about his father. Plus no one knows it but Webster knew MVP was going to miss both FTs that's why he foul him! :ghoti:

Webster hit some HUGE FT's. Batum LOCKED DOWN on kobe. Refs tried their hardest to fuck us (AGAIN). LMA continued his strong play. Roy got hurt. OKC lost.

So much crazy shit happened today, WOW!

Almost lost in the shuffle was this line: 10 pts, 17 rips (7 off), 4 blocks (should be 5), and ONE HUGE MOTHERFUCKIN PUTBACK!! Thank you MARCUS CAMBY!!

And there was a stretch in the 3rd quarter where Dre Miller single handedly kept us in the game with his aggressiveness. Forced it a little at times, but we don't win this game w/o him!!

    GO BLAZERS!

edit: and how fuckin sweet was that lob from Rudy to LMA? Then LMA screamin right in odumbs face afterwards, fuckin priceless!

    Deep Thoughts by "THE"...........
-Like what I saw from Rudy out there today
-Could not believe Martell's lack of knowing the team foul situation. Reminded me of Webber's T.O. call back in the day in the Final Four!
-LA stepped up again. Well done.
    -Nic's D was amazing.
-The first 30 something posts in this thread are hilarious.
-It amazes me how quickly some of you on here can kill our players then turn around and hop on their jocks. It's so over the top in both directions, it cracks me up.
-Watching Andre direct our traffic and Camby be the garbage man out there puts a smile on my face. These playoff type games really show how important it was to bring in some wily vets!

just a wee bit defensive about Martell mgb? I provided the link and just threw down my impression of what Joe had said to introduce it giving my words about a half second of thought. How else might you characterize someone who isn't physically with the team during a timeout and thereby not paying attention to what the coach is instructing the guys to do with under a minute to go? What viable excuse is there for not being both physically and mentally 100% there for a timeout with any game on the line (let alone this one)? Why shouldn't he be aware of the team foul situation? I don't care if it's Pendergraph who didn't sniff the floor... no excuse works. Did you happen to see how pissed Nate was over this fuck up? I'm as happy as anyone that things worked out and hopefully (as oldmangrouch said) he learned something from this. It's hardly worth calling me out on this minutia like you're on to something.

btw... Joe Freeman continues to be the best thing at the O

For those who have ESPN, the game just started! I'll bet the refs try and fuck us again, but I think we'll persevere and get a tough win! :devilwink:

So I'm watchin the game again, and I just gotta say, its even more impressive this time. Now that I know the outcome I can focus on other shit. There was more than one time in this game where the Lakers went on a little run, the crowd got into it, and they looked like the were poised to take over. But we didn't flinch. We kept fighting, LMA and Miller hit some huge shots to keep the momentum from going completely to the Lakers. Camby quietly dominated the glass, Batum was playin some SERIOUS defense, and we won. Even though it kinda seemed like the Lakers were in control. I can't find the right words to describe it, but it was Spurs-esque, like the 05 or 07 Spurs. I cant fuckin wait for playoffs.

First off you might put that it's your opinion when you slide it in with what Joe is saying, very misleading.

Second he didn't think he was going to be in the play he could have been just getting a breather, moping about not getting to play is a big leap of BS by someone that obvious is critical of Martel. As you said Joe is the best there at Oregonian that's why I was surprise to see the BS you posted included in what he said.

After this I won't trust anything you post that someone else said.

I don't trust anything anyone here says as things do get lost in translation from both the writer embellishing and the reader misinterpreting. Here you are attacking the messenger over next to nothing and making flailing excuses for a player who plain fucked up.

Breathing and paying attention to the coach during a timeout with the game on the line aren't mutually exclusive activities. Sitting away from the club during a timeout is unprofessional and unacceptable. Not knowing the team foul situation on your own is unacceptable as well. You're defending a clear and blatant fuck up with dog ate my homework level excuses

Even though it was a couple years back, I can recall our last exchange because it was equally irrational. Well after he was let go, you tried to take me to task for calling John Nash a failure and claimed that we'd see his moves come to fruition down the line. Nothing changed... worst GM ever. Now you're going on and on giving me grief over the way I characterized a report of a glaring fuck up by a player when I provided the link I got it from...

I don't know what your problem with me is, but if all you've got to offer is this sort of ridiculousness then please put me on ignore... I'd appreciate it.

I just rewatched the Freeman link. I'd guess I got the moping impression from Webster's dad's text telling him to "keep his head up". Of course thats the same thing Nate basically said earlier this season when he called out an unnamed starter for only bringing energy when his shot was falling. His wavering confidence is why he was assigned a sports shrink by the club. It's been my impression over his career that he's prone to getting too high or low pretty quickly... that he struggles to stay focused on the task at hand. Last night was another example of this... dude just escaped goat status

hopefully coming through with the 6 free throws provides him some long lasting confidence that he channels to carry him through the next time he struggles. He played decent D on Kobe and he contributed to a big road win. I hope he builds on this

That was one of the weirdest game endings I have seen in the NBA, with players on both teams committing mental mistakes. Players on both teams were laughing because of how strangely it ended.

Now that being said, I am just going to throw this out there: Isn't it weird that Roy goes out and both Rudy and Bayless game seems to pick up a couple of notches? Is Roy's game style hurting their game?

I wouldn't say it's his style, I'd say it's him being in the game in general. Bayless seems to play better as a scoring 1. And Rudy is a SG. It's the same way other players will step up when a more prominent player doesn't play. I don't think it's style, just about opportunity. Take away Roy's 16-18 shots per game, and put those out around the team, and they will have more opportunity. Doesn't mean Roy's style is bad for the team at all, though.
