Re: Official World Cup Thread: Let me get this off of my chest real quick. David Beckham is by no means a start for England, even if he was 100% fit. It has been like this for a couple of years now. Theo Walcott, Aaron Lennon, and Wright-Phillips all take their place before him the in starting squad. Also, Wayne Rooney is not nursing 'injuries'. He suffered 'small' ligament damage to his ankle against Munich and will be back before the Premier League has finished. By the time summer rolls around, he will be back to full fitness. Fabregas will also definitely be back to Spain by the World Cup so expect him to play a big part in Spain's campaign. Finally, van Persie is set to make his Arsenal return after being out for six-months on Wednesday. Great news for Arsenal and even better news for Holland. Spain and Brazil both play a similar style of football. Mainly consists of quick passing and lots of possession in the midfield. If a strong defensive team (ie: England, USA, Greece) can drown out the midfield, they have basically chopped off the head of the snake. You see this happen quite frequently. Look at Birmingham when they played United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool. All of the 'top four' rely heavily on their attacking prowess in the final-third. Birmingham mastered the skill of drowning out their midfield players which stopped the flow of passes to their forwards. And yes, I am comparing USA to Birmingham.
Re: Official World Cup Thread: I thought I read somewhere that Cesc would only be back for the Final if he made it. Maybe I misread though.
Re: Official World Cup Thread: lol. I wonder what they were actually thinking though with all that paper confetti on the ground.
Re: Official World Cup Thread: It probably read, 'World Cup Finals' which means the World Cup. I found an article on it, I'll try and look for it again.
