The Blazers were supposed to "hit their stride" this season. Instead, one of the most incredible seasons in terms of injury in NBA history for a 50-win team.

It's almost like Blazer fans have a defeatist attitude. Good things eventually can happen. Keep the faith. OKC has had an abnormal year in terms of injury, and they're scraping for 50 wins.

I respect that you self-identify as an OKC lover. Your posts show me you're not a Blazer fan.

Um, your post in the game thread alleviated those concerns. Thanks for backing Nik the Thunder Fan, though. I'm sure he appreciates it, considering his posts in the game thread!

I feel bad for both us and Seattle. How great would this I-5 rivalry be? I couldn't give two shits about Oklahoma City; let them root for Dallas or focus on the Sooners. I loved the days when our corner of the country was as feared as the current Texas Triangle.

How does a 26 game improvement mean nothing?

Because next year for whatever reason they can lose 2-3 players to injury and be back to 40 wins. Or maybe in 2-3 years they lose one of their 3 main players. Maybe they just can't get it done(Jazz). What happens this year doesn't have any affect on next year. Watching the blazers this year should tell you that.

All I know is they're no better than the Blazers.

I like this Nik guy. We just took out our frustrations on different targets. Perhaps I didn't effuse praise on OKC because I could take out my own frustrations on your post? :ghoti:

I remember when a young Memphis team had a bright future. Why, they even won 50 games once, and 49 games another year!

I don't see OKC winning a game against the Lakers.

I don't see it happening. Artest is going to drive Durant crazy, and the rest of that team is overrated.

What if Durant takes down the Lakers by himself and becomes the next "legend" overnight?

    Hello darkness, my old friend
I dunno about OKC lovers...I like OKC, they're a young, exciting team.

I think Portland is better and with a better future if Oden has some healthy seasons upcoming. If not, it'll depend on who can fill in around their young building blocks better in the coming seasons. Without Oden, the teams are of similar caliber.

I think that the Thunder fans would be justified in being excited about their team's performance this year and confident about their teams' chances to improve in the coming years.

But there are obviously no guarantees.

The Thunder were REMARKABLY healthy this season, and while it's possible that they will be able to use only three starting lineups again next year, the odds are against it.

The Blazers are where they are this year--in a good way--as much because of Andre Miller and, now, Marcus Camby as they are because of the great young talent on the team... but just as I doubt the Thunder can stay as healthy as they were this year, it seems quite unlikely that Portland will continue to be as injury-ridden as this year.

I like the Blazers' chances in the long run over the Thunder assuming Oden isn't perpetually injured, but the Thunder have a good young team that will be interesting to watch in the next few years. Maybe everyone was just kissing their asses a bit too early, though.
