Man, I couldn't stand Kamla going on about Scott Skiles on NBATV and how amazing it was that the Bucks won 4 straight after Bogut went down. Really?? Really? What about the fucking job Nate has done with Oden and Joel going down, not to mention Rudy, Bayless, Outlaw, Batum, Aldridge, Blake, and Roy! And we won 50 fucking games in a tougher conference. I mean our very own Nik predicted a 38 win season after Oden went down.

You can't give a guy Coach-of-the-Year who ONLY started Andre Miller because Steve Blake got hurt and eventually traded.

While he's done a lot of things extremely well, that was a moronic decision.

So, the Blazers get COTY for making the playoffs with an injured team, but Scott Brooks gets shut out for a 20+ win improvement tied to utilizing Durant and Green better than PJ did? BTW, last I checked a team that shouldn't have sniffed the playoffs was 1 game behind us. In the toughest western conference in a long time.

Who should've made the playoffs over OKC? Wasn't he their coach last year?

If Brooks should win COY this year, then Nate should've won it last year. That's an argument I'm fine with.

COTY has basically become a "Most Improved Team" award. McDillon's failure considering this was steadily increasing wins instead of making a 25-game jump in one year and grabbing the 8th seed.

Nate won 54 games last season starting Steve Blake at PG, rookie Nic Batum at SF, and Joel Przybilla at center for much of the season. His 6th man last year is now a sub for the Clippers.

Last year was incredible, when you think about it. But I guess Scott Brooks winning 49-50 games in a Yao-less season and getting the 8th spot means he's a better coach than McDillon, who finished ahead of Brooks.

For a moron. 99% of every NBA player, coach, analyst thinks different than you do. Unless you're some genius, and they're all stupid, I'd have to say that you and Nate are wrong.

    Link?

Besides, as much as I love 'Dre, Blake won 54 games as the starting PG last year. 'Dre will top out at 51 if we win against GS. The team regressed this season.

I'm willing to opine that 61 games of Oden vs. 21 (and his shoes being filled by Juwan Howard's PER of 10 in 72 games) was a much bigger factor in the 54-to-51 than some supposed drop-off from Blake to Miller. Especially since Blake rewarded Nate's faith in him with a sub-10 PER for 60+ games.

EDIT: To drive that point home a bit more, we started 54 games with Blake and/or Howard and their sub-10 PERs. Half of that is Nate's fault--half is his inspired gameplanning after Przy went down.

Durant scored a bunch last year...what changed?

I'm having a hard time figuring out all this praise for scott brooks when last year nate wasn't even in the top 2 for COY when the blazers came out of nowhere to get 4th in the playoffs when people doubted if we could even make the playoffs last year.
We did all that and Nate gets snubbed yet Scott Brooks has his team in play for an 8th place playoff appearance with a team that is very close to what the blazers last year and he is getting praised like no other.
Even this season when their were insane hype about the blazers and suddenly losing our Starting Small Forward in preseason then six games in losing our sixth man in and 26 games in being without our starting and backup centers and going on to do what we did is amazing. So many missed games and we are in the playoffs in a better seed then the thunder when there team hasn't really missed any time.
Little tired and ranting about how the Trail Blazer seemed to get overlooked on awards for everything.

Its simple....Oklahoma is closer to the east coast than Portland--thus they get the nod.
