    Don’t know who Portland will face in the Playoffs? Neither do we. Here’s a breakdown of possible scenarios:


    PORTLAND WILL PLAY PHOENIX, IF:
    1. Portland beats Golden State

    2. Phoenix wins vs. Denver and at Utah (back-to-back)

    *3-6 Matchup

    PORTLAND WILL PLAY UTAH, IF:
    1. Portland loses to Golden State

    2. Dallas loses to San Antonio

    3. Utah wins at Golden State and vs. Phoenix (back-to-back)

    4. Denver loses at Phoenix

    *2-7 Matchup
    ----OR----
    1. Portland beats Golden State or San Antonio loses at Dallas

    2. Denver loses at Phoenix

    3. Utah wins at Golden State and vs. Phoenix (back-to-back)

    *3-6 Matchup

    PORTLAND WILL PLAY DENVER, IF:
    1. Portland beats Golden State or San Antonio loses at Dallas

    2. Denver wins at Phoenix (this is a second game of a back-to-back)

    *3-6 Matchup
    ----OR----
    1. Portland beats Golden State or San Antonio loses at Dallas

    2. Utah loses at Golden State

    3. Phoenix loses at Utah

    *3-6 Matchup

    PORTLAND WILL PLAY DALLAS, IF:
    1. Portland loses to Golden State

    2. Dallas loses to San Antonio

    3. Utah loses either at Golden State or vs. Phoenix OR Denver wins at Phoenix

    *2-7 Matchup
    ----OR----
    1. Portland beats Golden State

    2. Dallas loses to San Antonio

    3. Utah wins at Golden State and vs. Phoenix

    4. Denver loses at Phoenix

    Are those necessary conditions (i.e., there has to be an AND between each one) or individually sufficient (there's an implied OR between them)?
    (Never mind - it's kind of obvious that they're the former.)

    The one clear thing is if you want to have a chance to play Phoenix, then you better beat Golden State.

    No kidding. I couldn't get through the only scenario I was interested in....how to avoid Utah (of whom we're 0 and 6 against counting pre-season).

    Great original post of this thread, and after tonight, I'll take a look at it again.

    I'm not sure who to root for tonight.

    I posted this in a different thread. Yahoo broke it down much better IMO. Basically it comes down to 4 games. Utah @ GS, Den @ Pho, SA @ Dallas and Pho @ Utah. The list shows the winner of each game and what the seeding result would be.

    Since this is the most likely scenario, we're screwed:

    UTH PHO DAL UTH -> 2.DAL 55-27, 3.UTH 54-28, 4.PHO 53-29, 5.DEN 53-29


    Just like like year when it was a consensus that we didn't want to play Houston, yet everything possible in the world to happen, happened, and we played Houston and got our butts whipped. It just seems like bad karma (the whole season has been bad karma) that we'll end up facing Utah, who's dominated us in 6 games this season.
