Remember his ridiculously gloomy 41-41 scenario for the Blazers this season? And that was without the injuries. Good riddance to KG and the Celtics.
He said all the same stuff when it took the Celtics 7 games to beat the Hawks in the first round. Then they went on to win the championship, after he guaranteed the Lakers would.
Simple: we hate him because he is a "Oden is a Bust" flagbearer. Why? Because the Celtics wanted Oden when they tanked, and they got the 4th pick when we had a 6% chance of getting the #1 pick. He's never forgiven us for our good luck. So he hates our luck, and bags on Oden, and we hate him for that. So whenever he looks like a fool, we like to celebrate his foolishness.

I wouldnt say I'm infatuated with Simmons at all. But I'm also not infatuated with hating the Lakers etc. I just do enjoy it when a douche gets whats coming to him.. IE Simmons, KG, Lebron Birdman etc.
Simmons is an embarrasing Celtic homer. I love seeing the Cetics fail and watching Simmons stew in it.
I know, but why do you take him seriously? Even Boston fans think he's a joke. I really hope Oden becomes a star because I want to see him try to back out of everything he's said. Nobody contradicts themselves more than him when proven wrong by reality. I used to read his shit religiously until I realized how much I was wasting my time.
I really like Simmons. He is very entertaining and poses questions and provides answers that are unique in a very cookie cutter field of sports writing. He says some mega-bonehead things at times, but he almost never says anything without giving his reasoning. I would love to have more voices out there that were willing to honestly share their opinions without fear of looking like an idiot when you are proven wrong. And that is what he does. He predicts everything and provides his personal rationals. As far as him being a Celt homer, bull shit. He is a Celt fan for sure, but he rags on his team all the time and is often more negative about Celtic players then people without an emotional tie. And he does not hide his fandom when giving his views, he lets everyone know that he is a fan and that may cloud his vision.
I dislike Varajeo very much.. and Noah annoys me but I dont put them in the same category as the others I mentioned. They are less douchey but still pretty annoying.
It's not that we take him seriously, it's that he keeps spewing the insults at Oden... and you know the concept: "repeat a lie enough and it starts looking like the truth" -- other media outlets sometimes glom on to things he says, and it just makes us look worse. Nothing worse than a fool being taken seriously by other people when he's talking about you. So it's the message that lingers (like a cold wet fart) after the messenger has moved on to other things that makes us mad and look like we're taking *him* seriously hen it's really the words we focus on.
If you think the national media perceives Oden as a bust because of Simmons, well, I think that's silly. I personally have great hope for Oden and think if he can put together some healthy seasons than he will be one of the best in the game. But, all of that is conjecture. He has missed almost two of his first 3 seasons due to injury while the #2 pick is a superstar. Those are the facts. Those facts are what drives the opinions of the National media, not Simmons.
