Good article by Brian Smith in the Columbian today. He points out that Rudy has an impact on opponent's defense due to his quickness and constant motion. Artest and Durant were sucking wind trying to cover him. http://www.columbian.com/weblogs/blazerbanter/2010/apr/13/fernandez-is-no-roy-but-he-does-have-speed/
Once again Brian Smith proves why he's so much better than Quick, Crapzano, and the rest of the local writers.
I have been wanting this for a while.. there is no reason we shouldnt be running Rudy off every screen possible.. Like Rip Hamilton and Reggie Miller were used.
He plays better when he does too. Rudy is not at his best when he simply spots up on the three point line.
I want to see Rudy curling off of down screens about every third play that he is in the game, I also think Nic and LMA have really started to show some chemistry with Camby handling the ball in the high post and cutting to the hoop on flex cuts ... With no Brandon (or a hobbled Brandon at best) I want to see real player movement in the first round, if that happens then I'll actually start to believe that Nate knows how to design an actual offense and he's capable of more than the 1-4 flat, Brandon-on-five.
This is really a test for McMuffin... how does he handle the team without Roy? It's also a test for Rudy... here's his big chance to show that he's worthy of starting... here or elsewhere.
