Do you guys notice a switch to more of a run and gun system? First off, what and the hell do the Suns do? It's amazing and do you think any other team (eh Dallas sorta) can do this with without Steve Nash?

Yea. You don't need Steve Nash to run the run and gun. Jason Terry runs the Mavs, and Jason Kidd runs this type of offense well. The question is can you win a championship with this style.

Of course you can win with this style, but you gotta have a defense.Fastbreak points are easy points and if you can combine that with a solid defense you have a very very good team.As for BCB's question,I think the only other team that can run it well is the Nets.

^And the answer to that is NO.Unless more teams than not, do in fact, run that type of offense. But Nash runs it better than anyone...but you also have to have the other players too.Terry can run it, but he has Dirk and JHoward to do it with.JKidd has been running it, but mostly with VC, and Richard Jefferson lately.

The Denver Nuggets are the best fast break team in the league. So this topic should be "Can teams play like the Nuggets" :dribble:

I think BCB meant that style of offense...not just the fast break aspect.

I think any team can do it, you just need the personell. San Antonio isn't going to run, with Tim Duncan slowing down and Bruce Bowen being as old as he is. However, teams like Phoenix, Dallas, and even New York could do it because of their athletisicm. Why Larry Brown didn't make them run more no one is quite sure

Yes you can win with it, but I would much rather have a balanced half-court set team that can defend. If you run the break a lot, your players are gunna tend to rest and get tired on the defensive end, then just worry about jetting when they get the ball.

I love how everyone thinks they run run and just run. I mean they run more than most teams, but no like every damn time. They barely ran against the Lakers, it was nothing but pick and rolls.

The mavs could run and gun better than the suns with this lineup. Harris, Terry, Daniels, Howard, and Nowitzki. Though Avery probably won't do that but it would be an effective lineup.

Avery Johnson has done an incredible job with that team and nobody in the league deserved Coach of the Year more than he did. Sure he has talent on that team, but he taught that team defense. Everyone on that team is a better individual defensive player now than they were a year ago, and they also play underrated team defense. so defense is the key here.

When the Suns win a championship, then yes. But now, no. Run and gun can only take you so far, but you still won't win a ring with that only.

Yes. Any team with a pass first pg with great court vision who can run and an arsenal of shooters and then some athletic swingmen can run. The problem is, most coaches arent willing to do that.

You can't win championships playing the kind of defense and shooting the amount of threes that the Suns shoot at this point.
