Is there nothing planned to celebrate the season like last year? I can sort of understand....last year the team made the playoffs after years of missing out. Personally, I'm way more impressed this season, for all the obvious reasons.

I heard the Blazers' marketing rep on the radio yesterday. She said that they're taking their lead from Nate's statement at last year's rally that the next time they hold one it should be to celebrate a championship.

Let's hope that's sometime in the near future. It's been more than half of my life since the last one.

Yeah, I like the low-key approach. Making the playoffs shouldn't really be cause for celebration, considering how many teams make them. Last year, there was some justification as it signaled their return to meaningful basketball. Now, they should consider it a disaster when they don't make the playoffs and only consider championships cause for celebration.

My thoughts exactly. Making the playoffs simply means you're [roughly] average. It's a very small step from playoffs to lottery...

At least we won't have to worry about a Division Co-Champions banner going up again this year.

And I agree about skipping the playoff celebration, I'd rather the team spend that day game-planning instead.

I agree with that also. It is expected now for us to make the playoffs. Lets save the celebration for a championship!

Well, it was fun. At least I had fun at it. Was it supposed to be a guarantee of a series win? After the shit we went through, I thought it was appropriate last year, considering our rabid, and I literally mean rabid, fanbase.

It was fun. I certainly like the idea of it being a one time thing, though. It was like a cathartic group exhale...as we see the worst is finally behind us.
