LeBron has earned it. No, he doesn't have a championship ring yet, but what he has done in this league so far is pretty incredible. Taking the worst team in the league to the NBA Finals in 4 years, winning last year's MVP award, he lives up to his star billing.
I think that you are so eager to be angry at being slighted that you hear what you want to hear. But you're so articulate in relating your worldview that I guess it all works out fine in the end... Kobe is one of the best players in the sport... ever. So is LeBron. Announcers SHOULD talk about them more than any other single player, especially if there is no other player having a particularly memorable game. Ed O.
I couldn't help but think of Bill Simmons comments the other day in his column Seriously people, get some perspective.
Well you got me, here in the virtual world. So...How's it going, Ronan? Is your name really Ronan? Do your friends call you Ronan?
Inferiority types = fake names, odd gay references. Superiority types = real names, consistent use of logic. Interesting choice. Ed O.
WHAT DOES "this" MEAN!?!?!? Why don't you geeks just speak.....errr.... type normal words!?!? You nerds really stress me out!
Having an inferiority complex, which admittedly I and a LOT of other Blazer fans do, is a healthy thing, in my opinion. It keeps us from swallowing the party line that big-market "superstars" are the only worthy, marketable thing about the NBA, and that everything should be done to coddle and nurture their success. If Sacramento had beaten the Lakers in 2002, and won the championship, do you think the league and it's marketing arm would have been happy about that? That the best team won, and that that in itself should be celebrated? FUCK NO! They would have pissed and moaned about lower TV ratings and lost "market share". And those of you that are about to scream "SAN ANTONIO!"... are you just flat out ignorant to the fact that it's the 7th biggest city in the United States? Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean that they really aren't out to get you.
Have you ever been to San Antonio? That city is small. Downtown is like 10 square blocks. It's TV market may be big though, cause there is nothing else around it out there in the desert. Feels like Eugene with taller buildings and no hippys!
Watch the regular season. I don't know a team with less scoring options than Chicago. Seriously, take out Rose and the offense will be scoring 75 points per game during the regular season.
Memo to Broadcasters: Do not mention superstars in your broadcasts. Despite the fact that 99% of the people would rather hear about the League's top players, some fool in Portland may be offended. Thank you for your compliance. (Insert name of fictional network executive who gives a shit about chris_in_pdx)
