Freddy Garcia didn't sound like he agreed with the decision, but ...

''They got to do what they got to do, man,'' the struggling veteran said Saturday after finding out Friday night he would be skipped in the White Sox' rotation with the day off Monday. ''It is what it is.''

Here's what it is: a way for the White Sox to take advantage of Garcia's tendency to pitch better with more rest. So, for the time being, he will be on the country-club schedule that Mark Buehrle had been on during the first half in the last few seasons.

That means pushing him back when they can and taking advantage of days off when possible.
