When Milwaukee Brewers hitting coach Dale Sveum heard about the 10-game streak of hits and runs batted in that Florida's Jorge Cantu put together at the start of the season, it had a familiar ring.

"I might have done something like that in '87 when we went 13-0," said Sveum, a shortstop on the outfit known as Team Streak.

A search of the box scores from that amazing start for the Brewers revealed that Sveum indeed put together an eight-game streak in which he collected at least one hit and one RBI. But it began with the third game, not the start of the season, as with Cantu.

Sveum did hit safely in those first two games, however, giving him a 10-game hitting streak to open the season, most of it coming from the No. 9 spot in the batting order. During that spree, Sveum batted a robust .432 (16 for 37).

Sveum's hitting streak ended with a 0-for-2 showing against Texas on April 18. The next day, in the Brewers' famed Easter Sunday comeback over the Rangers, Sveum socked the game-winning, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth.
