Arsène Wenger is staying tight-lipped over his plans for Arsenal's goalkeeper position.

Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski have both come in for criticism this season and some are tipping the Arsenal manager to strengthen that department by entering the transfer market this summer.

Wenger has Vito Mannone and Wojciech Szczesny emerging through the ranks too but he kept his cards close to his chest when asked about his long-term goalkeeping options at his pre-match press conference.

"I don't think it is the best moment to talk about that," said Wenger.

"I never said that he [Almunia] will be my long-term No 1. I think he is a great goalkeeper and he is in competition with Fabianski.

"But I want to see how we finish [the season] now so I don't think it is the best period to talk about individual players."

Almunia is a great shot stopper but overall I don't think he is a great keeper. His decision making is problematic. He has a tendency to get caught between the man and the net, he punches when he should catch, and he often chases corners he has no chance of collecting. 1v1 he can stop anyone, though.

Fabianski is accident prone. Seems like a confidence issue. I don't have faith in him.

It seems we will be in the market this summer.

    Very good summation of Almunia.

Fabianski is shocking. I don't know how he made it onto the list.

I'd like to know why Mannone wasn't given more of a run this season. He seemed to go well most of the times he played.

Don Vito started strong then started making rookie mistakes (which was to be expected). Why his rookie mistakes cost him his spot while our veterans made much worse mistakes I don't know.

    Exactly what I've been thinking.
