I think this will be a key indicator as to the future of KP in Portland. If he was involved directly than IMO he will be back, if it was Larry Miller that did the heavy lifting than KP is probably as good as gone.
Revenge! As soon as summer hits he's going to trade Camby for Hedo and give PA the finger on the way out the door.
quick says it was all allen who fell in love with camby after the thunder win... and thats when negotiations started he says blazer officials were down on camby at first making things worse for kpee. again... kpee is gone and this sums it up...
You sure seem to know a lot for somebody on the other side of the country. The closet you get to this team is what........... when we play the Knicks? Go Away!
Hehe. Blazers officials were down on Camby at first = bad for kpee Allen fell in love with Camby later = probably bad for kpee...certainly not good!
quick says it was all allen who fell in love with camby -mixum If true, that sounds eerily familiar to Miles. I remember reports that it was Allen who was in love with Miles and was the one determined to resign him. I think PA is a businessman who makes business decisions based on emotion. I think a lot of business people do that . . . but it probably doesn't bother Allen much when the emotional decision costs him business dollars. edit: can anyone confirm what mixum said about Quicks comments. Can't really rely on Mixum as a credible source.
The difference this time is there was actually going to be competition for Camby's services this summer and PA wasn't foolish enough to commit 5 years to the guy -- this is an (an albeit expensive) low risk proposition. considering contract length and just how seamlessly Camby has integrated himself
Good distinction. Its going to be a wild summer and for the teams that either didn't get a name player or teams that need the missing piece, Camby as the rare defensive minded big man could draw some crazy offers. But the business side of me wonders who can outbid Allen and isn't the CBA going to effect contracts this summer? Anyways, I'm glad they re-signed Camby. Give Camby a summer on his lake fishing and he might decide a different path (family more important than basketball). I figure even at his age, his adrenaline must be pumping with the playoffs going on. What better time to wave big money in his face and say come play for an NBA contender the next 2 years.
I can understand internet posters riding the rollercoaster on a given player, but when I hear the people actually running the team are doing the same thing, I don't see it as a good sign. Almost like a "seat of our pants" business model.
Do you have a link, and how did Pritchard force his will upon his superiors? Maybe you mean, the officials just wanted Camby for the short term, not to re-sign him.
Do we know that KP was the man behind that deal though? FYI I like KP a lot and I more just want to know his fate.
I guess maybe I should be the Blazers GM, as I stated at the beginning of the season that Marcus was the ONLY player in the league that we should go after.
