I never posted anything about Blake. What are you talking about?

Hmm, Outlaw ended up with the highest WS% outside of Camby on the Clippers.

There are a lot of empty stats on lottery bound teams during the last month of the season. Us Blazers fans should remember as much...

Ah, yes. I got confused with who I am supposed to be. The PapaG guy must have really made an impact here. I checked out his profile today and some posts. Seems a bit of a nutter, but wow, that BenDavis503 guy seems to be a veritable psycho. Oh, the drama!

I'm not sure how empty shooting 44% from 3pt really is, regardless of team record, but if we disagree, no biggie.

    Allegedly.... right.

He starts posting a month after PapaG leaves. He has, essentially, the same posting style. I'm pretty sure it's him. :dunno:

    Fairly empty...

I watched about ten of their games and they were often sloppy and uncontested jumpers were at a premium in the 2nd half of many games.

I love Blake, but he played much better the previous two seasons than he did for the Clippers, if we're talking about pure value.

Depends. His PER was higher for the Clips that in 07-08, as were his advanced shooting statistics. I just took issue with someone posting that Blake had killed his value. I don't think that's the case at all, and if he's hitting open 3pt shots, well, those are the shots he's typically going to get. I should hope he'd hit them.

We agree he didn't kill his value.

In the last 30 games of the season the Clippers won 8 games - roughly the 25% that Blake, as the team at large won. I suspect that this trade (it sure seems like they loved Camby there) drained whatever fight this team had going forward - so a lot of the better win% values you see on that team were from earlier in the year. I do not have a split of the win% of the other players on that team after the trade - but I would be really surprised if he was that much better than most other players on that team.

At the end of the day - it comes down to what Blake is - he is a glue guy. He is not a star, and he is not someone you build around - but if you put him around good players - he will mesh well with them and help them win games. Someone in the league is going to pay to have him on his team, LAL and Miami seem like natural destinations.

The fact that you said this gives me great hope that he's never coming back to Portland.

His time here came and went. He's someone else's problem now.

No doubt about it. Keeping any of our potential opponents from getting him is worth it alone, but to have him on our team, a much better player than Oden will be next season, ensures that we contend for the NBA title again (like we will this year with him as our starter, ensuring that Camby starts next season, too)

Dude. Nobody wants Blake. Nobody's wanted Blake for the last 3 years other than Nate. Stick to singing.

The thing that annoyed me about blake was he really didn't look to shoot unless he had too. He would rather pass then shoot and thats great most of the time but when you pass up wide open shots like he did a lot defenders stop playing you so close and your ability to create for your teammates becomes very limited.

The signing of Camby does several things for us:

    1. Yes, we overpaid, but we got fewer years. We were going to be in LT territory anyway, so the dollars don't really matter to me if they don't matter to PA.

    2. We hired a tutor for GO. Joel is great, but his game is based on being physical. Camby is more finesse, something GO could use.

    3. We kept him from other teams that could have used his services. Camby on OKC would have been frightening.

    4. Our offseason is now a lot more orderly. We can draft in June knowing our big man situation is pretty secure. We can package Joel with Rudy before the draft without worrying about losing Camby.

The more I think about it, the more I like this deal.

Looks like it's a done deal.
