Gotta say--Dan Henderson really looks like a fuck up this morning, doesn't he? Plays hardball with Dana White, heads over to Strikeforce for more money and easier fights and gets dominated and embarrassed. He would've gotten the fight against Silva at UFC 112, probably, instead of Maia. Oops. Dana is probably thrilled right now after everything that happened.
where was King Mo to back up his boy Mayhem?? That woulda been interesting. Melendez is the one who kinda started all that. Miller didn't touch Sheilds and was only trying to promote a rematch. It was disrespectful for sure, but he's not the one who started the brawl.
Strikeforce ratings were down 30% last night...wow... http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2010/4/18/1429189/strikeforce-on-cbs-overnight
^ That might be it for Strikeforce on CBS. The perfect shitstorm--fights that dragged on, an embarrassing brawl, and declining ratings.
What does SF do with Henderson now? Keep him @ 205? Hendo/Mousasi? No way they give him King Mo. If his back is fucked up, how long does he take off and does he need surgery?
Humble in victory, humble in defeat. At least Aoki is humble in defeat. http://www.mmamania.com/2010/4/18/1428994/my-spirit-is-not-broken-shinya

Gotta comment on the ring entrances brought up earlier in the thread; I'm actually a fan of Jason Miller's entrances, I think they're really funny and a breath of fresh air for MMA...BUT I absolutely hate seeing them on CBS. I can just imagine casual fans who are actually drawn to the "Saturday Night Fights" idea then see that and think they're watching something parallel to the WWE. Lots of boring ass fights but the results were quite shocking. A Hendo-Shields re-match doesn't seem to be in much demand now, perhaps appropriately so as Hendo was handled for four straight rounds, but shit he was so close to ending it a few times in the first round. Seemed like the weight cut really took its toll after that round. Gotta give credit to Shields though, as ugly as his fights are the dude just knows how to win. Overcame that tough first round to win the fight decisively. Moussassi's takedown defense is fucking pathetic. Hes great on his back but King Mo controlled him the whole fight. Impressed by King Mo's wrestling but quite unimpressed by his (and Shields') poor ground and pound. Dunno how long he'll be able to hold that belt with such poor conditioning though. Melendez looked great but also totally agree with whoever said that I can see any of the UFC's best lightweights doing the same thing to Aoki. He had no answers for Melendez.
http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news?slug=ki-whitereax041910 Sounds a little like Jake might have found a new home? Supposedly Robbie Lawler is on his way to the UFC so by connecting the two examples it implies Jake is as well.
this is working out great for the UFC. Hendo leaves, loses and now they can easily overpay a bit for Shields as he's still get less money than Hendo was getting. Strikeforce IMO needs to gear down a bit and build a bit more slowly. I think they jumped on the CBS bandwagon too soon and they over reached. They just don't have the depth in each weight class save for HW to continually put on captivating big shows.
The UFC's replay of UFC 110 on Spike beat Strikeforce in the "key demo" ratings, another blow to the Nashville card.
