The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that the team has extended the contract of General Manager Bob O'Billovich for two years with a mutual option in 2012. The 2010 season will mark the 34th season O'Billovich has spent in the Canadian Football League as a player, coach or administrator. "We are very happy to announce this extension for Obie. His time thus far in Hamilton is further proof of his unmatched ability to identify talent and build exciting and successful CFL teams. We are both excited to make this mutual commitment and know the best is yet to come for Obie during his tenure with this proud and storied franchise," said President Scott Mitchell. O'Billovich joined the Ticats as General Manager on December 5, 2007 after serving four seasons as Director of Player Personnel with the B.C. Lions. He has also held either coaching or football operations roles with the Calgary Stampeders, Saskatchewan Roughriders, Toronto Argonauts and Ottawa Roughriders. "I'm happy to extend my contract with this organization. I have a great job, and I'm proud to work with the tremendous leadership team we have in Hamilton led by owner Bob Young, Scott Mitchell and Marcel Bellefeuille. I look forward to working towards the ultimate goal of bringing the Grey Cup back to Hamilton. I believe this team is in great shape to compete for the Grey Cup in this coming season and beyond." O'Billovich has been a part of four Grey Cup championship teams over the course of his CFL career.
