you're not disturbing me, it just seems like a gigantic waste of time to try to analyze something when we've only the likes of Portland's pathetic media to provide us insight. Fans have never had much exposure to Penn (or other Pritchard underlings) so it's not like we have much of a feel for how he is publicly, let alone when the cameras are off and at work. Maybe he's perpetually late to meetings? Maybe he's a drunk or an arrogant jerk? Maybe he hit on Larry Miller's wife at the Christmas party? Maybe 10,000 other things that don't have anything to do with KP's long term prospects with the club. Pritchard might actually have felt like someone had kicked his puppy at that news conference, but for all we know he felt the club had good reason to fire Penn and was just bummed that things went sour. Had Miller backed KP up 100% no doubt some posters would have claimed it to be a transparent kiss of death before his firing. Damned if you do damned if you don't. Here is guessing that Pritchard and PA are side by side Thursday night just to calm down the hysterical... if so, I won't take that to mean that he'll be retained for sure. They'll be handling that business in the offseason. I'm resigned to just hoping that management makes the right decisions for the long term best interests of the franchise. I am fully aware that my very limited view of the internal workings of the club don't put me in a good position to judge individual management members. What I do judge are the roster/personnel decisions. Under KP I've been pleased for the most part which was not the case at all when Nash was calling the shots. Because of that I'm hopeful that he remains the GM, but if he's let go I won't go because for all I know thats the right call. STOMP

Actually, I'm surprised he didn't hold out for a third year. With a lockout looming, this becomes pretty much a one year deal. In the summer of 12, he will be an aging free agent facing a market where almost everyone will be capped out under the new CBA.
