The New York Yankees won over the Oakland A’s by a score of 3-1.

Phil Hughes retired 20 straight Oakland A’s during the ball game! He lost a no-hitter in the bottom of the eighth inning. :(

That was the best game I’ve ever seen Phil Hughes pitch. Phil Hughes was no-hitterish during this game. That’s what he was. The A’s were baffled. They were bamboozled. They had no answers for Mr. Hughes. His effort was beautiful. He was dazzling. It was like watching the painting of the “Last Supper” or the “Mona Lisa.”

Phil Hughes’ performance was so wonderful, so grand, so superb that even the Oakland A’s fans gave him a standing ovation when he came out of the game.

Before we go any further Yankee fans, I’d like to explain what one, two, three is. It’s something like this… Your team gets up at bat, right? Your team gets up at bat and then they are sent down, ONE… TWO… THREE! It’s really simple.

From inning two to inning seven, Phil Hughes retired 20 batters in a row. That’s, ONE! TWO! THREE! He sat them down, one by one. You were able to see the helpless looks in the eyes of the A’s batters as they stepped up to the plate. They knew they were done. They knew the night belonged to Phil Hughes. They were able to do nothing except walk back to the dugout with their heads hung low in defeat.

Phil Hughes struck out 10 batters which is the most batters he ever struck out in a game. He subjugated them to 93-94 mph fastballs that kept the A’s off balance while he was mixing in his hook. Then he smacked them in the face with his Mariano like cutter. He clobbered them with his cutter. It was a shellacking in it’s purest form.

The best moment of the game: Phil Hughes looking at his parents as he walked off the mound. That was a nice sight to see. It was heart warming. It’s great to see people in general have such great support from their parents.

Let’s not forget about the offense the Yankees used to win over the A’s. They got two triples in a row during the game that started with A-Rod. He did the A-Rod hustle all the way to third base. Then Robinson Cano copied him and got a triple of his own. It was for him and no one else. Cano then scored on a ground out. Then for “good” measure, Brett Gardner drove in Curtis Granderson in the top of the ninth inning to give god room for error. God as in Mariano Rivera but you already knew that.

Oh, and guess what? God got the save. Yankees won. They always win just like General Zod.
