The Kansas City Wizards will take on the Los Angles Galaxy this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. CT in what is sure to be a playoff-like atmosphere at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. This weekend's matchup features two of the top teams in Major League Soccer, with the Los Angeles Galaxy sitting atop the Western Conference and the Wizards second in the East. The first 5,000 fans to step through the gates on Saturday will receive a free 2010 Wizards team poster, courtesy of Sprint. Fans are encouraged to invite their friends and experience the best of MLS soccer as the Wizards try to BEAT LA. KCW JUNIORS GOALKEEPER JON KEMPIN CALLED TO U-18 NATIONAL TEAM CAMP Kansas City Wizards Juniors goalkeeper and Kansas state player of the year Jonathan Kempin will add another honor to his collection, as he was called up to the U-18 National Team for a camp in Carson, California at the end of this month. Kempin had previously spent time in Bradenton, Florida as part of the U.S. U-17 residency program. The goalkeeper will join 23 other players for a week from April 25-May 2 at the Home Depot Center, where the team will train twice per day and compete against local club teams. U-18 head coach Matkovich's roster includes 17 players currently playing in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy plus another player, Kyle Emerson, who has moved on from Texas SC DTH to Wake Forest. The remaining five players - Dustin Corea, Andrew Craven, Luis Gil, Stefan Jerome and Eriq Zavaleta - were all part of the U.S. Soccer U-17 Men's National Team Residency Program in 2009. Gil, who signed with Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer before the 2010 season, is the lone professional player on the roster. STEEL GOES UP AT KC SOCCER STADIUM SITE Construction on the Wizards' new home continues to move along at a brisk pace, landmarked recently by the installation of several steel beams at the site. Wizards fans had the opportunity to sign the first steel beam before it was raised into place in advance of April 10th's home match against the Colorado Rapids. "ZONA WIZARDS" AND "KANSAS CITY SOCCER SHOW" PROVIDE SOCCER RADIO FIX: Wizards fans will have two ways to follow the beautiful game on local radio this summer in both Spanish and English, with the Kansas City Soccer Show and Zona Wizards beginning their broadcast schedules this week. The Kansas City Soccer Show, which airs every Saturday from 10-11 a.m. CT on Sports Radio 810 AM, will cover the international game, the 2010 World Cup and the Kansas City soccer scene, including the Wizards, KCW Juniors and local youth soccer. The show will also feature interviews with Wizards players, coaches and executives. Last week, hosts Jake Gutierrez and Josh Whisenhunt welcomed new Wizards goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen to the show. This week, the KC Soccer Show will welcome Los Angeles Galaxy striker Edson Buddle to the program. Buddle has been red-hot to start the 2010 MLS season, having scored all seven of his team's goals in only four games. Buddle and the Galaxy will face off against the Wizards at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Zona Wizards, the Wizards weekly Spanish-language radio show, airs weekly during the 2010 MLS season. The show, which features interviews with Wizards players and coaches, airs every Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. CT on La Gran D 1340 AM, which is also the Wizards Spanish-language flagship station. JOIN THE WIZARDS TOMORROW AT LOS CABOS The Wizards are joining forces with Los Cabos at the Legends to host a "Welcome to the Neighborhood Party" and raise money for Autism Speaks. Come join Jimmy Conrad, Kei Kamara, Ryan Smith and Craig Rocastle on Thursday at Los Cabos at the Legends as they wait on tables to help raise money for Autism Speaks. Los Cabos will donate 10% of your bill that night to Autism Speaks, and then they will match that total at the end of the night. There will be a raffle for Wizards vs. LA Galaxy tickets and other great prizes too. The event is Thursday, April 22nd, 6:00 to 9:00pm at Los Cabos at the Legends. WIZARDS HOST SOCCER DAY 5K FOR AUTISM SPEAKS: The Kansas City Wizards have teamed with the Kansas City Soccer Foundation for the first annual Soccer Day 5K. The race will benefit Autism Speaks, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness of autism and securing funding for research into the causes, prevention, treatments and cure for the disorder. "We are extremely excited to be a part of the Soccer Day 5K - It will do wonders for awareness and will provide proceeds that help our research and advocacy," said Jennifer Smith-Currier, Midwest Regional Walk Director for Autism Speaks. "The Wizards players have been so supportive of the autism community over the last few years, and we feel privileged to be a part of their community spirit once again." Registration is now open for the race, which will take place on Saturday, May 15 in the Village West neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas. The race will start at 8 a.m. outside of CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Those who act now will get a discount on registration. Registration includes a commemorative t-shirt, a complimentary general admission ticket to that night's Kansas City Wizards game against the Chicago Fire at CommunityAmerica Ballpark and food and drinks following the race. Race participants will also have the option to purchase additional game tickets at a discount. All registered participants and volunteers will be helping raise money for Autism Speaks and the Kansas City Soccer Foundation.
