I'm not a big video game guy but I know that the two main b-ball video games are NBA Live and the NBA 2k's...I've played both the new NBA Live 2006 and NBA 2k6, I have to say NBA Live is a mockery of basketball. It's just stupid, that dunk contest thing they have is absurd, the whole gameplay is dumb too, it's not basketball. NBA 2k6 is pretty much as realistic as you can get in my opinion. 2k6 is for the fans of the game of basketball and NBA live is for the enterainment aspect of basketball fans, that's how I see it. Any thoughts?
I prefer 2k6..the thing with live that i like though is the Isomotion....the dunks are crazy...in2K^ their kind of choppy.
2K6 is a better realistic game, but NBA Live has the better Dynasty mode and game types, 2K6 dynasty has superstars being traded all over the place.
Definitely 2K6, it also has better graphics in my opinion. Live has more of a cartoony and colorful look, it's not realistic.I also love NBA Street (vol.2 is where it's at) and NBA Jam for SNES is great too.
I've onlt played the newest basketball games for the 360, and there are limited feature (I have no idea why) but I like the gameplay of live better, the controls, and THE GRAPHICS are awesome! 2k6 has more modes, and a more realistic thing going for the cloth physics, but as a game, for game's sake, I'll go with Live, I have more fun playing it.

If EA buys out the rights to NBA games, I will be pissed. Aside from the gameplay, the dynasty mode is 10x better too. Even the little extra features like the VIP, the crib, the fact that you can hire/fire your head coach, how you don't have to wait to simulate 2-3 days to find out if they accept/decline the trade (Live you have to), the workouts you can play, the pre-draft workouts, etc. Everything is 10x better than Live. The only thing I wish 2k gets is All-Star weekend. I would love if 2k sports bought the rights.
I'm all for 2k series, I think it's hands down the best basketball series out there, better graphics, gameplay, far more realistic. Just the way to go unless you like high scores, unrealistic stats and dunking.
I just play Live because its what my friend has for PS2 since I dont have my own system. I havent played the 2k games so I wouldnt know which is better, but I enjoy Live although I have heard its more arcade-like than 2k..
I either want to play a simulation game or a game where I can just F*ck around, so that's why I like both Street and the 2K series. Live is kind of in between and I'm not a huge fan of it.
2k6. It is really fun because you get to practice the fundamentals, a.k.a. coming off of screens, pick and rolls. It is fun to get inside too. It is the most realistic and I just grew out of the flashy dunks and .800 percent from 3 pt range a.k.a. NBA Live.
