The Chargers had to have a feeling that someone was going to take Matthews in the next few picks to get up that high. Maybe Seattle?
Is McClain not the real deal? Never seen him play but wasn't he the consensus best LB in the draft? Morrison was nice in his time here but despite the big tackle numbers he was weak against the run and a little small for an ILB. From what I read McClain is the prototype 4-3 ILB (though I hear he could play SLB for us).
It wasn't a huge surprise. It was a solid pick. McClain reminds me of a more athletic James Farrior but not as sound a tackler (something you can work on). I'm actually surprised the Raiders didn't go after someone like Spiller considering it's Al Davis
McClain was a reach, which you shouldn't be surprised by, but McClain is good. Just no one expected it, and I thought they should of taken Claussen bc Gradkowski wasn't that great IMO. Just people got excited since he was able to throw better than Russel's 20% completion rate...with those completions being complete to the other team.
So, Broncos are going after Dez Bryant right? I assume that's why they're trading down, word is his stock has dropped a lot because of his personal issues. but the broncos just had to deal with Brandon Marshall....
