And tomorrow, I have to have one of my dogs put to sleep.

    Fuck my life sideways.

As a dog owner, I'm really sorry to hear that. :(

    Thanks.

I know it is the right thing for his sake....but it still hurts.

Perspective, bro. This is just a basketball game, although I know a win would have brought you joy before a terrible day for you.

    I empathize with you.

A month or two back there was a thread about this in the OT section of this forum. I shared a story of how when I had to put my dog to sleep I called the vet and had her come to my house and do it there.

I had a picnic for him, hugged the hell out of him as he passed away on his favorite blanket surrounded by his favorite doggy snacks and toys.

The Vet and her assistant took him to the crematorium for me.

He always got a little freaked out at the Vets (badly broken leg when he was a puppy) and I didn't want his last moments to be at a place he didn't like.

If you can you should see if your Vet can make a house call.

Me too... I trimmed my dog's nails at halftime... thinking about losing him eventually makes me so sad. :sigh:

Also, I really need to stop listening to Bon Iver after losses.

Believe it or not - I do too. He's been a great dog and friend for 16+ years and it's one of the hardest things I've had to do but keeping him alive now is just for our selfishness and doing him no good at all. Truly a shitty time.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everybody for their kind words.

I know I am an old crank, but it has been a tough couple of days. It helps to know some folks understand.

I'm always amazed when people talk about losing a pet like it's no big deal. It's no different than losing a member of your family. Besides, most family members don't provide you unconditional love.

    My condolences, OMG.
