I agree with Dwight on this one. It all boils down to what we've been talking about since last season..... Nate is a bad coach. After game one we saw Alvin Gentry make some serious adjustments, and we got destroyed in game two. What happened? Nate made ZERO adjustments. Cue Tince in 5.....4.....3......2.....1 to explain how great McMillan is.
Some of us even longer than last season... I do enjoy a lot of you lighting this team up after 2 horrible nights though. FIRE EVERYONE!!!! TRADE EVERYONE!!!!! WE HAVE TO START OVER!!!!! OMG OMG STEVE BLAKE!!!!!! LOLZ doesn't do i t justice. Bunch of big girls on here to be honest.
I don't really see anything being said that hasn't been said constantly for most of the season. 1) Aldridge is soft and overpaid - is this a new thought? No. 2) Nate is a one-trick pony who is overrated by many - new thought? No. 3) Rudy is mailing it in - new thought? Kinda... He has been pretty inconsistent all season, but now we are really seeing him mail it in. Most people aren't calling for KP's head, or saying we should trade Aldridge. There's only one person screaming for Blanky and similarly only one person saying we should start over. This has been the trend all season, so I don't see how the last two games are really any different.
it's odd to me that the two guys who've seemed to come to play every game this series have been Webster and Bayless, and we're saying that "our bench sucks?!" We'll have about 26M tied up next year in Roy and LMA, who for whatever reason (injury or vaginitis) aren't producing near the level of Nash and Amare. I believe that Bayless and Webster are playing better than Dragic/Barbosa and Dudley, FWIW. "Our bench" isn't the issue here.
The bench is moot if your starters aren't getting the job done. Right now we aren't seeing jack shit from Aldridge or Rudy (yeah he comes off the bench usually, but right now he's a starter). Bayless and Webster are actually playing pretty well.
Bayless has actually been a pretty good player off the bench this series. Webster hasn't been terrible.
i was with you on this entire thread until this post....who besides the 6th man of the year averages 15ppg off the bench?!?
What? Bayless(13.7) and Martell(11.7) are both averaging more than 10 off the bench for the series. And Bayless has had games of 18, 9, and 14 so that's pretty reliable bench scoring from Jerryd. Right now the biggest issue with our depth is that we've got 3 starting quality players injured, with Roy/Oden/Batum this team has as much or more talent than anyone in the west. Any team who has injuries to whom I consider the 3 overall best players on the roster is going to struggle against a 3 seed in the toughest conference in basketball, that's not an excuse it's fucking reality.
Travis Outlaw averaged 13 ppg last year, and these fans apparently couldn't wait to get rid of him and don't want him back. It's a rollercoaster.
Those numbers are OK in a slow, grind-it-out series. Unfortunatly, this has become an up-tempo, score over 100 ppg series where we are missing our main scorer. We need more production from both players, particulary since they seem to be only scorers left that the Suns aren't double teaming.
The idea is that bench guys are gettting starters minutes all of a sudden and not responding with the production we need from skilled professionals. I doubt the Blazers could beat Duke right now.
