About The Ballantine's Championship is a European Tour golf tournament which was played for the first time from 13 to 16 March 2008 at Pinx Golf Club on the island of Jeju in South Korea. It was the first European Tour event to be staged in Korea. The tournament was announced in July 2007 by the European Tour in partnership with the Korean PGA, marking a continuation of the European Tour's expansion into Asia. The Asian Tour, which had not been offered the co-sanctioning rights to which it felt it was entitled, responded by calling the event an "invasive" action that "colonised" Asia in "blatant disregard" of the "principles of the International Federation of PGA Tours", but six months later it agreed terms to co-sanction the event.The prize fund in the first year was €2 million (circa US$2.9 million).

Bhullar, Kapur make cut at Ballantine's Championship Shiv Kapur (73) and Gaganjeet Bhullar (75) on Saturday made the cut despite returning over-par cards in the second round of the weather-hit Ballantine's Championship , which has been reduced to a 54-hole tournament. Both Kapur and Bhullar share the 34th spot with totals of one-under 143. However, three other Indians in fray missed the cut which was set at one-over. Fraser wins the Ballantine's Championship Australian Marcus Fraser posted a third and final round of 3-under-par 69 to win the Ballantine's Championship in South Korea. The Ballantine's Championship on the European Tour was shortened to a 54-hole event after dense fog on Friday. The final margin of victory was four-strokes over Australia's Brett Rumford and Northern Ireland's Gareth Maybin. It is the 31-year-old's second career victory on the European Tour and his first since the 2003 Russian Championship.
