Not only that he played, which obviously helped, but also that he hit the 3 that gave us the 6 point lead, which we kept until the end of the game. I'm speechless. This is all.
What really struck me, is how the team played when he *wasn't* on the floor. If they had played those stretches the way they played in games 2&3, the team loses anyway. Roy's willingness to play hurt seems to have shamed them out of their lethargy.
Roy coming back made this win better than the first. The Garden Was Electric when Roy showed up, it was Freaking un-believable!
I crapped myself when I was going to the game and I was hearing rumblings of him being active and then possibly playing on game 5, and then maybe starting today. I smiled when I saw him warming up and I shit myself when I saw him checking into the game. I was proud when he put JRich on skates.
I was shocked! I came straight from work so I had no time to listen to grumblings. When I saw him dressed down, I was like oh how nice supporting the team, had no clue he would actually check in! No doubt JRich being on fire the last two games was because he didn't have B-Roy to deal with
Just think back to the events since the Laker Game April 11th that lead up until today's game. It's almost mind boggling, and I can't think of another example quite like it that I've ever seen. He injures his knee April 11th vs the Lakers. It didn't appear to be a serious injury, and our fears were alleviated the next morning when we heard the report - "Bone Contusion". No problem we can live with that. So he sits out the last two games and is ready to go for the playoffs. That should give him plenty of time to heal up. Then, like a shot to the gut you didn't see coming later that day we heard - "Torn Meniscus". However, it still might be okay. Brandon was talking like there was no way he was going to miss the playoffs. In yet another startling turn of events just a few days later, and seemingly out of nowhere we hear - "Roy to Undergo Surgery, out for 4-6 weeks" (and there goes our season) It was a bummer. But then something funny happened after the surgery - Brandon felt much better. It started to come to light that if they could get to the 2nd round, it was possible he could come back for that series. What? How did 4-6 weeks become less than 2? Sounded pretty far fetched most of us felt. Then we heard he was moving around, running on treadmills w/o swelling, and had full range of motion. Brandon came out himself and said it was "possible" he could play Game 6 or 7 of THIS Series! Most thought that was a pipe dream. And then how do you put into words what we saw tonight? When he came running out of the tunnel for Game 4, it was surreal. What an absolute roller coaster these last 2 weeks have been.
If only the roller coaster had been just the past two weeks ... this has been the most exhuasting/inspring/eventful season I can ever recall. How are we going to react next year if the team manages to stay mostly healthy?
I would like to know from a medical standpoint how did Roy bounce back so quickly from this surgery? The press is like dumbfounded and nobody has explained why hes suddenly playing. Do we have any scoop yet?
Paul Allen and KP had B Roy fake the injury so that they could plan this big reveal like they did tonight. hahahah KP is a genius!
I thought it was a poor idea. I don't think he was the reason you guys won, and he risks his future for a first round game. Doesn't make sense to me.
He was COMPLETELY the reason we won. Did you see LMA prior to tonight? Roy's presence completely opened up things for him. PLUS- Roy hit the two most important shots of the game in the 4th quarter.
LA had 10 points in the 1st quarter before Roy even checked in. Brandon's presence undoubtedly pumped up the guys and crowd, but players other then Brandon share credit for stepping up. STOMP
I wonder if LMA bought Brandon that dinner-of-choice he obviously owes him for the 31 he dropped on PHX yesterday.
I don't get it. The team, and media, has said it was a minor injury/surgery, but Brandon in the post-game interview on TNT said it was a major tear.
Well when I go to see Brandon when I am sick he always says things are worse than they are, he is a terrible doctor.
