We need more than 2 rebounds from our power forward!

what if the same PF had multiple tips of rebounds to other players who garnered the stat... would you have to say that?

I'd be much happier! I don't remember LA doing that at all tonight though.
On a side note...don't they usually award the rebound to the guy who tips it?

Indeed. The offense starts here, and usually when LMA is doing bad the ball is not being moved. It only happened once, but Roy got the ball swung all the way across the ark to a one on one mismatch. They need to figure out the Damn double team and keep the ball moving.

 

I think it's a little bigger than that. We have some serious hurdles handling the double team:

1) LMA is getting horrible post position, this gets everything started off on the wrong foot.
2) LMA is a below average passer out of the double team, he only makes the first simple read, making the pass the defense wants you to make.
3) The Suns are willing to let Bayless and Miller beat us with their outside shot because they're below average shooters.

So we would normally want to send double cutters down the lane, but that would require LMA being strong with the ball and making the proper read, something he hasn't proven he's capable of doing. I'm afraid it's going to come down to their role players hitting outside shots vs ours.

I'm almost positive it's true. But for a minute - lets assume its not. In that case, EVERY player doesn't get credit for his "tip-outs"...so their "actual rebounds" should still be rather comparable. Two "actual rebounds" is still terrible. Regardless, when did LA tip out any rebounds to our guys in this game?

 

The NBA Statisticians Manual is not available online, but I have seen/read it for my job with Synergy. I'm not actually sure why they don't make it public.

and as I've posted I'm pretty positive that the guy who garners the ball gets the statistical credit. LA doesn't have great hops/quickness, but he does have excellent length and uses it regularly to redirect balls to teammates.

my take on this game in general is that the Suns were allowed to be far more physical then Portland. Among other things, they consistently rooted LA and every other Blazer out of the post and whacked the crap out of guys posting up without consequence. The foul calls were lopsided and it wasn't because Portland was avoiding the paint. Hopefully the league will let things be called straight up when they get their game 7

First your excuse was that L.A. tipped them out and wasn't given credit for it, but you couldn't come up with any examples. Now you're blaming it on the refs. I dunno....I know the refs sucked but LA needs to find a way to get more than 2 rebounds.

 

no, I sited that others observed the same thing that I did and referenced where you could find this. I don't have a game tape to break down and site exact moments when examples of this happened, but if I really gave a crap I'm sure that I could research matters. Aren't we all (you included) siting our observations here?

So aren't you blaming the refs in this highlighted comment? Rebounding is a team effort and Aldridge has consistently been on a team that boards well above average. Surely he bears most of the blame for the loss tonight

No matter how bad the refs are, they shouldn't keep LA from getting his hands on only 2 rebounds in 40 minutes.
