I so completely disagree that the Thunder beating the Lakers would be the greatest upset in NBA playoffs history. 1) The Lakers have been playing bad basketball for over a month. The Mavericks had won 67 of their previous 78 games going into the playoffs. 2) The Thunder won 50 games this season and the Lakers only won 57 games. The Mavs won over 20 more games than the Warriors. 3) The Lakers' Kobe Bryant has been hobbled by injuries and hasn't played a good game in weeks. The Mavs' Dirk Nowitzki won the MVP Award. The upset was so devastating that Dirk wasn't even able to accept the MVP award in front of the Dallas fans because the Mavs were already knocked out when it was time to announce the award. Also, the 1994 Sonics won 20+ more games than the Nuggets and no #8 seed had ever won a playoff series in the NBA. And the series was a Best of 5 which meant that the Nuggets were playing a must win game after the first two in Seattle. And in

I think it's being considered as "greatest upset" b/c a) K*be's involved, which by definition makes it some kind of superlative for NBA/TNT/ESPN, and b) Durant's involved, who is the torchbearer for being the Next K*be. Durant beating K*be's L*kers is much sexier than Cap'n Jack and the Warriors beating Dirk, right? RIGHT?!?! /network media hype machine
that article made me feel so much better about Roy's state of health. From the innovative surgery, to the consistent lack of swelling, it just sounds like wonderful news all around. I especially liked the prognosis that playing isn't placing his knee at any more risk then normal. From the sounds of it the pessimism I've felt over whether he will regain his normal level of play these playoffs may be completely misplaced. hopefully the posters who've regularly questioned the club's medical staff/approach read this article for a little perspective and insight STOMP
Well the Lakers/Thunder series has been very underwhelming for both superstars. A greatest upset of all time would have to be much more dramatic, and played at a higher level I would think.
I wouldn't even know how exciting that series has been. I've only seen one dramatic series in the NBA, an offensive vs defensive battle, a defensive Juggernaut with a historic fan club going up against a strictly fast break jump shooting team with 3,000 tickets left for a game five, best of three (now) series. Ahhh, this is drama I knew B-Roy could play on his injury but I could never predict him having surgery and coming back for the playoff's. I guess he's come to far to give up now!
