Trib calls it a "disappointing" season?

They had a poll up yesterday asking who's to blame for the "disappointing" season. Unless Denny came up with the poll, I don't see why they'd call it disappointing. This bulls team exceeded even Denny's expectations, and is right where we expected them to be: about to lose in the first round of the playoffs. They got there despite injuries, weak coaching, and dysfunctional management. I don't know why that's disappointing...

Plus, this whole season was about what happens in the beginning of July anyway. So it seems extremely premature.

I didn't come up with the poll, but it appears everyone sees it differently than you do.

Well, yes, they met my expectations, but they were pretty low expectations.

If you thought the Bulls would have the same record as last year and barely make the playoffs, then it was not disappointing.

That being said there were disappointments! Hinrich and Salmons shooting during the first 25-30 games. James Johnson entire season. Pargo. The losing streak. FO and Del Negro confrontation.

    The expectations are really low.

This is about what I expected. The miserable NBA middle.

The growth in Noah is encouraging.

We backed into the playoffs because Toronto both imploded and lost their superstar player to injury, allowing us to pass them by a very slim margin. I'd call the long losing streaks, the blowouts, the inconsistent play of our veterans, and going from a 7 game series with 5 games in OT against the defending champs to "lucky to win one" against the Cavs a pretty serious step backward.

I am quite happy we have Rose and with his progress, and with Noah as well. Yet we're in a much weaker conference and still underperform the old Pau Gasol led Grizzlies.

Nevermind that Noah was out for longer than Bosh, Rose was hurt for a month, the Cavs were a better team this year than last year's KG-less C's, and when healthy, the bulls were still a better team without BG, or at least didn't miss him... And those Gasol led Grizzles had a much better coach than these bulls.

Nevermind that it's been how long since we had even a 50 win season in a much weaker conference (where 41 wins gets you in the playoffs!)?

Because if they had won 50 games that would make a season successful?

    More successful than 49 wins.

72 wins was the most successful in history.
