Lions running back Kevin Smith said he is welcoming his main competition for the starting job, first-round draft pick Jahvid Best of California. "I think he's a good complement because he's able to make it to this level and because of what he was able to do in college," Smith said in a story on the Lions' Web site. "I think that he's a good addition. Obviously, if we picked him up in the first round, he's someone who can help the team. "I'm all welcome.
