<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Back in Motown? My peepsare telling me that Mateen Cleaves is hoping to get another shot with the Pistons.Cleaves, a former Michigan State point guard and NBA journeyman, was drafted 14th overall by the Pistons in 2000.Cleaves, a Flint native, just didn't work out his first go-around in Detroit. In his rookie season, Cleaves, 28, was beaten out by Chucky Atkins for the starting spot and played in 78 games (he started eight). Cleaves averaged 5.4 points and 2.7 assists.Cleaves, who averaged 2.7 points in 27 games with Seattle last season, has to be inspired by the development of former teammate Charlie Bell , who wasn't even drafted in 2001.Bell, who went to Europe and got his game together, performed well for the Bucks this season and shot 45 percent from three-point range against the Pistons during the playoffs.Still, don't be surprised if Cleaves, who helped lead the Spartans win the NCAA championship in 2000, ends up coaching.</div>LinkAnyone actaully seeing this happen? I just dont think there is enough room for Cleaves on this Piston team. I'm not sure, but i'm sure they will want to bring Delk back next season. Not too sure on what Hunter will do or even if he is a free angent or what. I'm sure we all know that the starting position is set for the moment. I thought they had Alex Acker on thier roster as well. From what i've heard, he sounds like he's improving his point guard skills and could become a pretty decent backup point. Just not sure if enough room for Cleaves in my opinion.
I don't see it happening because he's not a good NBA player and the Pistons have Billups, Hunter, and Acker, so I don't think the Pistons are going to pick him up.
It is true that we don't have any need for him. Alex Acker is showing development in the D Leagues and we have 2-3 guards in front of him after Acker, he needs to go to a team that needs him.
nope, i like Mateen, but i'd rather see Charlie Bell here if the Bucks are dumb enough not to sign him. but if Lindsey retires, Acker gets released, or anything else, sure i dont mind having him back. but i dont see it happening
i think lindsey will retire, and i dont think the bucks would let bell go...gotta wait and see what else is coming out for free agency, and i wouldnt hold my breath on a long career for acker
