The sting from losing Game 7 will linger awhile, but the Coyotes
' early exit from their first playoff berth in eight years could serve as the springboard the organization has been seeking.

The feeling seems to be that making the playoffs will become an annual event.

When coach Dave Tippett addressed the team following Tuesday's 6-1 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, he used a forward spin.

"We talked a little bit about where we were last fall, and where we are right now and what kind of team I'd like to see moving ahead here," he said, "and the kind of people we have as the core of our team I think are unbelievable.

I talked a little bit about, it's phenomenal to see, when you add five players at the trade deadline, there's some situations that could disrupt a team. I think it speaks volumes for our group that the players who were here accepted those players so quick because they knew they could help us win, and the players that came in recognized how tight a group there was here that they wanted to help immediately."
