I agree about Nate. It's one thing to be a complainer and another to at least be "alerting" the refs. I used to get it from the better coaches. They would have some reason to walk by me and simply let me know to look closer at certain areas of the strike zone they felt I was hurting them with... If it was done properly, I'd pay attention and even ask my partners if they felt I was missing a part of the strike zone or calliing the game unevenly (it's easy to do when one team has a fast ball pitcher and the other a curve ball pitcher...). There is a right way to keepo the refs on track and Nate really doesn't bother with it.

Rudy played better than any of the starters last night.

The refs didn't cause the Blazers to lose last night. The starters played badly, plain and simple.

Hopefully, next year the team is healthy at playoff time. Healthy, this team has as good a shot at the rings as any.

    Go Blazers

I dont blame the refs for us losing the series, but they definitly had an impact. They killed so many of our comeback attempts by calling ticky tack fouls. Without a doubt they gave PHX many calls that they didnt give us when the situation was reversed. The no call on Roy's 3 pointer in the 4th last night is a prime example. It also drives me crazy how the all the refs sat and listened to the PHX coaches and Amare's crying after every call and during every time out. Maybe our coaches need to learn from it and ride the refs more.

As was Rudy to start off that string of momentum-killing non-calls to give the Suns the win and the series.

Don't blame the refs, they simply follow orders like the Gestapo simply followed orders.

This "league" needs a federal investigation every bit as much as the banking industry does.

Was anyone in doubt who would "win" the Spurs/Mavs series? Of course not.

Yes. Uncalled shooting fouls, of which their were many, count against your fg%.

Missed shots caused by fouls which are called do not count against your fg%.

Also, the ft's (over a dozen) would have changed the score and stopped several breakaway baskets by the Suns.

Just the 3 3pt fouls not called would have given us the win we earned last night, and the 5 or 6 times Roy and LaMarcus were mauled would have had us leading most of the 2nd half.

Fuck TNT too for not having the balls to show the replays. It was obvious they were instructed to ignor the bad calls. I rewinded the bayless shot myself and was horrified how a guy could come up 5 feet short on a 3 pt shot at a crucial time int he 4th only to have Collins (Who I love as an announcer) saing "it may have been tipped"? Are you kidding me Doug? Show the FUCKING REPLAY you bastards! I wanted to know for sure. And OH yeah....it was an obvious foul. But because it was Bayless shooting...........

Having said that......Phoenix played awesome and deserved to win. Richardson looks like his old GS days. Unbelievable.

I was also miffed TNT refused to show replays when it was clear it would embarras the refs and the league.

This game reminded me of game 6 of the Kings/lakers series 5 or 6 years ago. In the second half the refs melted down and just screwed Sacto into the floor sideways. Pretty much the same thing happened last night. It was a melt down by the refs.

Mavs' Cuban: 'I'm not so proud of NBA'

I hope Mark elaborates on this a little more. Because I think he knows there is a problem.

Doesn't help the Blazers. I wouldn't be shocked to hear that Nate and the rest of the Blazers brass let the refs raid their kitchens after the game. Just stand up for yourselves for fucks sake

I thought the refs went out of their way last night to try to get a Game 7 out of this series.

I blame Jason Richardson, He is not nearlly as good of a player as he played against us. I bet he blew his whole load in round 1 and will hardley make a basket the rest of the playoffs.

There are a lot of reasons Portland lost the series, and bias officiating was one of them. To think otherwise is a monumental head scratcher, IMO.

But, over all, the Suns are just a better team.

Agreed. Straight up, with our injuries, the Suns are the better team. My hat is off to them, although I think the Spurs are going to kill them.

The refereeing was consistently bad in this series. Including one of the all-time-hall-of-fame bad calls sending Steve Nash to the line when A) there was no foul and B) Nash was nowhere near the alleged foul that was called. Another terrible call was in, I believe game 1, when Steve Nash tripped and a foul was called on, I believe, Martel Webster. For being close to a player who fell down as near as I can figure. There were some truly horrific calls in the series and I believe that more of the bad calls went against us. I guess part of the problem is that Nate McMillan doesn't complain enough. Teams and coaches that complain a lot seem to get more calls. I wish he'd go ballistic once in a while. Get a few technical fouls. Really get on the refs early and often. I'm not sure how much that would help, but it would make me feel better. Unfortunately, none of that is the main problem.

The real problem wasn't that the league was dictating the outcome of the series in advance, or that the refs have it in for us, or we don't get any respect. The problem was that we weren't aggressive enough. We became the jump shooting team and Phoenix attacked our defense, breaking us down and repeatedly getting better low post position. Our power forward fades away on most of his jump shots. Other than Jerryd Bayless, we didn't have anybody attacking the rim consistently. If we did attack the rim more and get better low post position, then we would be getting a lot more calls.

I generally don't blame the coach for wins or losses, but in a 6 game stretch, for Nate to not make those adjustments to get us to be more aggressive and attack the basket more is pretty much unforgivable.
