<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (iversonfan268 @ May 14 2006, 06:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Why are we comparing to incredibly different players??? Scottie Pippen was a great all around player and a great role player. Kobe Bryant is a great scorer and has to have all the spotlight. IMO you can't compare two players that are this different.</div>I don't think they are that different in terms of their entire career (comparing Kobe's thus far). Both were the second-option to two of the greatest players in NBA history; both played under the same coach; both played in the same offensive system, and both were given an opportunity to become first-options when their "partner" left, although Pippen only had a year and a half to be the main option before Jordan returned from baseball. This is an ideal comparion, although it will be difficult to compare Pippen's career without Jordan to Kobe's without Shaq simply because Kobe still has years ahead of him.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (BigMo763 @ May 15 2006, 08:34 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>KMart acknowledged that Pippen refused to enter the game, and said that was his sole act of "disobedience" against Phil Jackson. Also, why are we talking about Pippen in Houston when everybody else is comparing Scottie's transition to being the first option to Kobe's transition? Houston has nothing to do with it.I can see where KMart is choosing Scottie over Kobe, and in a sense he is correct. It really depends on how you look at it. For me, if I'm looking at the two and comparing solely their individual skills and talents, I'd choose Kobe. If I'm choosing who fit better in the triangle offense and who was the better facilitator in that offense, I'd choose Scottie.Regardless, KMart has really been the superior debater throughout this entire thread.</div>I didn't waste my time reading through his whole post but can someone point out to me where he mentioned the incident with the bulls [where he refused to return]. Also, i mentioned scottie's problems in houston to prove that he was an ass also [and got himself traded].This season for the most part kobe has listened to phil, even buying into taking 14 shots in some games. And unlike Scottie, Phil never gave kobe a chance earlier on his career [he admitted it himself].As for this comparision, Kobe bryant is creating history in every game he plays. I can't say the same for scottie pippen.

He had that one moment where he refused to enter a game, but then again, Kobe did throw a TV at Lamar Odom and then question why he wasn't confident. Pippen was the better leader, simply because he listened. I've seen Kobe scream at hsi teammates, ignore his coach, and lose complete confidence in teammates. Scottie never did that.</div>

Thankyou. With that, he tries to knock kobe down with something false, it never happened. Scottie completley refused to re-enter the game. In houston he caused problems. His character is also a bit shady.Let's break down kobe's years as the first option1- 2002-2003 Phil tells Kobe that he needs to take the reins because Shaq is out of shape. Lakers start badly but win 50 games eventually. Kobe bryant averages 30-6-5-2 in that season, 9 straight 40 point games but They lose in 6 to the spurs.2- 2003-2004- Lakers bring in Payton and malone, kobe and shaq have to share the ball even more. Kobe is still the first option of this team but his injured for quite a few games [so is shaq]. Lakers win 56 games but lost in 5 to the pistons3- 2004-2005- Kobe's first season without shaq and phil. Kobe puts up decent stats with a bad shooting percentage but the lakers win 34 games and miss the playoffs4- We know the story, lakers in the end lose in 7 to the sunsKobe's record as the first option of the lakers185-143Now this doesn't mean kobe was the leader of the team, first option and leader sometimes are seperate. In this case Shaq still remained the leader of the team but kobe took over the reins as the first option of the team [as requested by phil].What does this prove? That kobe as the first option did more than scottie did [even though kobe has had 4 seasons to do it]. As 2nd options Scottie accomplished more [6 rings compared to 3].I only skimmed read through what he posted because i know his opinion on kobe. I picked that up when running through it.

Scottie Pippen, I hate KB, and I liked the Blazers when they were good.

I can already tell you most likely have no basketball knowledge.

Maybe not up to par to Pippen in D, but is definitely very good. Good enough for a first team. Offence, do I have to say anything? Scores on will. Best at creating his own shot from virtually anywhere. Pippen doesnt even match Kobe's offensive skills.Kobe. :brucelee:
