What players did you think could have been superstars, but never quite made the jump from good to great?I remember when Abdur-Rahim came out, he was putting up some big numbers (OK, so it was only for the Grizz, but still). I thought he was going to be one of the top SF's for years to come.
SAR was good in Vancouver and Atlanta and could have been a better player. I always though Micheal Finley would be a superstar, he was a great player but I thought he would be better then he turned out to be. He was compared to Jordan coming into the league.
I would say Kwame Brown but he is a little to young to rule out so fast. Kenyon Martin the 1st pick in the 2000 draft. I think he could be really good but injuries have slowed him down. He needs to have easy shots which he got from Jason Kidd but isnt getting in denver.

He put up some big numbers when he was younger, but got a bit complacent I guess.

He was getting a lot of open and easy shots because of JKidd. So when pay day came, Denver thought he would only keep growing and improve as a player. So they gave him the max contract he wanted. Now they have found out that he is not worth all that money. Thats why he is being payed as a superstar.
LaFrentz and Van Horn were a couple more that were meant to break into the top class of players.Damon Stoudamire is probably not a fair pick as he was with the Raptors at the start, so was getting alot more chances to score as the go to guy, but I still thought he would go on to have a better career.Stackhouse has had a few big scoring years too, but hasn't really been able to do anything else.
Michael Dickerson. He averaged 18 ppg his 2nd year in the League. He had some hops, he could drive and was a good shooter. Injuries took his career away.

There was an pretty good article on him in Slam about a year ago or so. Its ashamed that he isnt able to play any more.
Darius Miles possibly, he was never that good, but he was solid as a rookie, everyone thought he'd be great, then he just never really improved.
Earlier this year I thought he was in the running for MIP, but then he got hurt, then he got suspended for being an idiot, and it was reported that he tried to get Jarrett Jack to smoke weed, how stupid can you be throwing your future away like that?

A 17/9 type player yes, I don't think what the Nuggets paid him means anything because teams are overpaying for good players all the time, Samuel Dalembert and Tyson Chandler being other $60 million type players.
I dont know if anybody though Marcus Fizer was going to be a superstar, but i doubt many ppl had him playing in the NBDL this season. He's one of the guys that just never played up to his potential, or he was overhyped big time comming out of college. I think its a mixture of both. Bottom line, if your a top 5 pick, you should be producing more than what he does.

Sebastain Telfair...I think if he went to college, he might of been better not only in skill but i think his conditioning would have been better. He is okay in the NBA right now, but i have a feeling he might have his time in the near future.

I have to agree with the Darius Miles comment, I expected him to be good, and he was for a while... but now I don't ever hear about him.
