The Orlando Magic are holding a news conference with the NBA and Orange County and City of Orlando officials today to announce that the new Amway Center will host the 2012 NBA All-Star Game. The Amway Center opens for the Magic in October. Asked by the Sentinel a few weeks ago in Charlotte, N.C. if an announcement was forthcoming, Commissioner David Stern smiled and said, "Be a little patient." The league's protocol is to award a new facility the all-star game after its building is in operation for at least a year. The Magic would not comment about the nature of the news conference that is scheduled to take place after a media tour today. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orlando-nba-allstar-game-2010-2012-20100504,0,437774.story
