According to MiddleEasy.com, former EliteXC and Strikeforce fighter Gina Carano has retired from MMA competition. The 28-year old Dallas native amassed a 7-1 pro MMA record and a 12-1-1 pro kickboxing record. Carano last fought at Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg in August. Carano is choosing to focus on her acting and modeling career. Carano's first starring role will be in Knockout, directed by Steven Soderbergh (Erin Brockovich, Ocean's Eleven). Carano will play a spy/assassin similar to Jason Borne in The Bourne Identity. The film is expected to be released in late-2010.
I guess once she got beat that was too much for her to handle. She has the look for acting and modeling. She will be fine.
Yeah, she wants to settle down and have a family now. I support her on all her decisisons. I'll keep you updated once I talk to her.
She's so robotic in interviews, can't see how she'll have much of an acting career. it's a shame, her fights were always good to watch IMO. Never one to back down and fight not to lose, she always went for the win with aggression. I'm going to assume she has several acting jobs lined up if this is her decision.
After getting a real beat down, I guess she wanted to protect that pretty face. Its worth alot more now with her acting roles and modeling all lined up...
