I read your post too quick and thought you said "by a professional atheist"...and I started to wonder what the hell that meant.
Yeah sure. You just have to look at that last claim to know what a crock of shit this book must be. That quote, "a nation of non-believers", is a lie. Here's what he actually said: barfo
My guess would be the publisher provides them. And my guess is that in a large fraction of cases, the author writes them. barfo
Luckily, the White House made Georgetown cover all religious symbols in the background for that speech. Yep, God has no faith at a Jesuit institution.
that's not a lie at all. he definitely identified america as, among other things, a nation of nonbelievers. some of those other things were christians, muslims, jews, and hindus.
You have very low standards. Most people don't consider it legitimate to mislead readers by quoting only selected words so as to change the meaning. barfo
it doesn't changed the meaning unless you interpret it to change the meaning. could someone who didn't know the quote take it the wrong way? sure. but that doesn't make it a lie.
A nation with nonbelievers? That's true. A nation of nonbelievers? That's false. It's grammar, but grammar is important.
Yes, he clearly did not say that, did not mean that, and it isn't true. If you'd said "a nation of, among other things, nonbelievers", that would at least be sort of accurate, although it still wouldn't be a quote of Obama. barfo
