Rondo is one of the best on the ball defenders in the league, but it is tough to be considered the best defender in basketball as a point guard b/c of how many pick and rolls that point guards are involved in. My feel is that the only way for a point guard to be considered the best defender in the game is for him to be able to switch onto other perimeter players and lock them down. If his defensive versatility only allows for him to guard one position, no matter how good he is at doing it, he shouldn't be considered the top defensive player in the league. I haven't seen enough games from Rondo to know how much he switches out on wings.....but I have seen good point guards put good numbers against Rondo -- in part b/c of all the pick and rolls they put him in.
